This trip to Prague was my first experience with hostels, and my conclusion after staying at Sir Toby's is that, if all hostels were like this one, I'd probably forever prefer hostels over hotels whenever I travel again. It's a combination of a clean and comfortable environment, with friendly and helpful staff. The hostel is in a quiet area (prague 7), which is really just separated by a river from Central Prague. My main concerns were cleanliness and convenience, and this hostel satisfies both. I originally booked Boathouse, which has many good reviews too, but I was a bit worried about its distance from the city centre. Well Sir Toby's isn't exactly located right in the centre either, but there is a tram just around the corner that takes you right to the castle area, and a few others that take you to old town and new town. You will reach anywhere you want to go within 10 minutes. There are 3 floors and an attic, and each floor has rooms that are given these prettiest names, mine was called blue sky. I don't know about the other rooms, but my room is all female, single non-bunk beds in a spacey room, with a clean private bathroom. The staff there were all so helpful and nice. I'd definitely go back when I visit Prague again.

Sir Toby's hostel is everything you'd want in your hostel. Friendly staff, incredibly clean rooms, cumfy beds and a lovely atmosphere. I stayed here for a total of 7 nights (non consecutive) and met loads of people that I partied with every night, which was great as I was travelling alone. It's only a 14min tram ride into the centre, and extremely good value for money.

Prague is like a fairy tale - one of the best places I went on my trip. And make sure you check out the local restaurants near the hostel - they are absolutely delicious, and insanely cheap. And make sure you put a night (and day) aside for an absinthe expedition (and the inevitable hangover that follows) - you'll only regret it the morning after.

Sir Toby's was the first hostel I ever stayed at and unfortunately it spoiled me for future hostels. It rarely gets much better than this. There were plenty of people to meet - communal hangout helped a lot, and a great garden to chill out in.

In fact the only reason they get a 4 and not a 5 is because when I checked in, having booked in advance, it was 10.30pm and I think they had assumed I wasn't coming and given my bed to another traveller. They were very helpful in finding me someplace to sleep (a matress on the floor), which was fine.

Sir Toby's is a really nice and lovely hostel. Me and my friends arrived there really late at night (it was over midnight i think) and the guy who let us in was really helpful and friendly. The price is really cheap, hostel is clean and the rooms are lovely. The overall atmosphere made me feel really cozy, I was sad to leave so early. I recommend it strongly!!!

After travelling around for over 2 months, Sir Toby's is still my #1 hostel. I had such a good time there. I was travelling by myself and as soon as I got to Sir Toby's the staff welcomed my like I was their long lost friend. The rooms are nice and they have bathrooms between 2 rooms which makes it very nice. The best part about Sir Toby's is the kitchen/common room. It is such a great place to make new friends and tell old stories. I would highly recommend Sir Toby's to anyone visiting Prague. Prague is a wonderful city and the experience I had at Sir Toby's made it so much more pleasurable.

I stayed here in March 2003 while in Prague for a few days. We had a room with a balcony which was cool. The staff are pretty friendly and reply if you book by email. Kitchen quite basic but eating out is very cheap. You might have to wait to get on the internet as it gets busy. There is a supermarket just over 5 minutes away and a very late night/24h bar just aound the corner. Its a bit out of town, 30 minutes walk/15 minutes in the tram if staying right in the city centre isn't your main priority then its the place to be.

This hostel is great. Rooms are nicely decorated and clean. Staff are generally great (one screwed up the booking but the others corrected it quickly). A bit far ou of the action but a 15 minute tran ride and you are in the centre. Decent kitchen and a good atmosphere. One small problem was a lack of COLD water...unusual i know but it made the shower rather hot and the loo took 30 minutes to fill up after flushing....would go again though!

This hostel is a little different from most we stayed at in europe, but so is prague. the hostel is near the north train station (Holesovice) which we just happened to be arriving at. Unfortunately we didn't know just how close it was and took a taxi and got totally ripped off (it's hard not to get ripped off by taxis in prague so try to avoid them). You could walk from that train station though, or take a tram. If you email the hostel they will tell you how to get there from whatever station you are coming from. The neighboorhood is pretty quiet and residential. The downtown and various sight seeing areas are accessable via tram and metro, but if walking to everything is really important to you, stay somewhere else. The advantage to this hostel is it is clean and the rooms are quite nice. Gorgeous hardwood floors. Most of the beds are real beds (Not bunks) and wooden. I had a down comforter on mine! (but it was the only down comforter in the room, though eveyone had a comforter.) The bathrooms are modern, private, very clean. The staff was mixed- one guy was extremely nice and helpful. There was another guy who wasn't though. They have cheap internet but when we were there it was unbearably slow and we didn't want to pay for such poor speed so we went to internet cafes. this problem might have been fixed though. there is a small common room and "kitchen" which is very very basic. But eating in restaurants in Prague is incredibly cheap! We had a HUGE tasty meal with enormous beers for 5 dollars each. The hostel serves no food though and there isn't even a soda machine so always have some water or drink with you when you come back for the night. There is a cute cafe close to the hostel that serves funky pastries and funky snacks and coffee. Also they did laundry for me for a small price which was great because we didn't have to waste our precious prague time doing laundry. I would definitley recommend staying here unless your biggest priority is location. If i could find a hostel just as nice that was in the center of the city then I would do so. But if want a reliably decent and nice place, stay here and just take the tram or metro- we were fine with that and the subway system is very good here and easy. from what i've read of the hostel reviews, all the really nice prague hostels aren't in the city center and some are even farther away.

We arrived here about 9am and were told we couldn't check in until 4. This wasn't a problem as we were offered free coffee in the kitchen and shown the bathroom and shower should we want to use it and stored our luggage in the office. On arriving back, one of the staff had given away our room to someone else, but needless to say this was all sorted out and we were given our private room (huge with own bathroom) as well as some free tram tickets to get us to town that evening and the ariport the next day to compensate for our inconvenience. We we're expecting that, it was a really nice thought.

Slightly out of the centre, but not difficult to get in. Supermarket and market nearby (be prepared to have to say 'I'm just looking' at LOT of times) Plus the hostel gives you a Sir Toby's guide to Prague which is really useful if it's your first day. It's clean, friendly and spacious, not at all claustrophobic like some hostels.

Would definitely recommend it, and would return if I ever needed a hostel in Prague again.

P.S Hotel U Prince in the Old Town Square does amazing cocktails!!

I stayed two nights in Prague.

The city is not outstanding for reputation except beautiful buildings. But the place i stayed is recommeded.

Sir toby's is a very artistic place to stay.

People are also very kind(but no smile, so you smile first) and rooms are very HUGE feel like at home.

They don't serve breakfast but you can use a big kitchen and tables in outdoor garden. They also kindly tell us how you get to the scenic place.
