I would highly recommend staying at Sir Toby's. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they definitely kept their word regarding our reservation. We booked a private double room, but when we got there, the room they gave us was a 5-person dorm room. We thought they made a mistake, but they told us that we had the whole room to ourselves. Compared to stories I've heard at other hostels of travellers having their reservations cancelled, this was very impressive. They probably accidentally overbooked the double rooms, but they were willing to honor our reservation even if it hurt their business. Plus, the room was huge. There were high ceilings, 2 desks, and 3 chairs. It was very spacious for 5 people much less 2. The bathroom was also clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Just back from a 6 week trip around Eastern and Central Europe and Sir Tobys was easily the best hostel we stayed in. The dorms are a good size and not crowded. The hostel is clean. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were good, and I thought the kitchen was well equipped for the needs of a backpacker. It's not really a party hostel, so I wouldnt recommend it if that's what you are after. The local area has a great supermarket just a few minutes walk away and the trams are so cheap and frequent and efficient that being a few minutes from the town isnt really a big deal. The italian restaurant nearby (Capua) is fantastic by the way.

I agree with the other reviews listed here; Sir Toby's is clean, comfortable, fun and the staff are friendly and helpful. They also provide free tea and coffee to guests! I would definitely recommend staying here.

i stayed here for 4 nights. it was a nice hostel. i stayed in a dorm room and it was actually a nice room. everyone gets a locker box in the room, bring your own pad, and there are showers just outside the room. it was clean and near restaurants and a supermarket. you take the tram to get there and it isn't very far from the center of the city. the kitchen was nice, not the best but it has what you need and is a good place to meet up with other people. the internet there wasn't really working when i was there but there are cafes nearby that are cheaper anyway. it is really cheap too which is good if you are on a budget, and safe too. so i would stay here again.

This was a wonderful hostel. As mentioned by the previous reviewer, I didn't go 'ew' to anything at this place. The rooms were large and spacious and included extremely large lockers, the showers were the most powerful and hot showers I've ever seen at a hostel. The grocery store was just a short walk down the street and there were some good restaurants within walking distance. Even though the hostel may look far from the main tourist area, the tram and metros are extremely efficient and will take you down to the touristy areas in just minutes. I can guarantee that for the minutes it'll take you to get out to this hostel you will save money by not having to eat or find a room in the touristy areas.

The staff was friendly and helpful for providing us with train schedules and the like. The common room/kitchen was a great meeting place where games of UNO (my personal favorite), pictionary or chess could break out.

I highly recommend this hostel. My friend and I came prepared to give it a chance for one night, and stayed for six.

I was very impressed with Sir Toby's. Everything was so clean, I didn't go ew to anything (like I usually do at most hostels). There is no breakfast, but they have a kitchen and fridges and a grocery store is down the street. They are very, very helpful at the front desk. They know everything. There is also a really awesome, really cheap italian restaurant down the street that is great! The beds were comfortable, the room was private and quiet, and the showers were warm! It is easy to get to by tram. I highly suggest Sir Toby's for a great stay!

After spending time at hostels throughout Europe, Sir Tobys easily ranks as the No. 1. Clean, spacious and comfortable dorm rooms (only 7 beds), great common room, back yard and the most helpful and friendly staff you could ask for. The laid back atmosphere always attracts a similar type of traveller. Even though its a little way from the centre, there are a few great nightspots VERY close by!!

i would go to prague again just for staying at the sir toby's. the hostel was clean, the room, that i stayed in, was big. 5 people shared 2 showers, 3 WCs, and 4 washing basins. the staff were friendly and shared their best ideas of what to do in town. people staying were nice too, and it was always fun to stay at the big kitchen all night long to have good chess games or just read through the bunches of guides of the city. sir toby's surely made me love the city more.

some minor drawbacks but made no harm to my love for it: it takes some time to get into old town, compared with other hostels IN old town, and now some parts of the hostel is under construction. might be noisy if you dont wake up around 10.

I had a tremendous time at Sir Toby's, The rooms are clean, simple and spacious. The staff are among the best that i have encountered accross my travels in europe, always well informed, and have a great love for the city as well. The hostel also attracts a good group of travellers, and consquently had many great evenings in my time in Prague...

I stayed here in july 2002 with 2 friends whilst inter-railing. We got to see a lot of hostels and non quite matched sir tobys. Newly decorated, secure, nice dorms and friendly staff. It was also nice to be able to sit outside, in the 'garden' or on the balconies. Kitchen quite basic but at least it has one! Top marks.
