We stayed in the downstairs double room in early June, everything was fine the first 2 nights (noticed a couple of bites),but on our last night we got mauled by the little buggers, must have killed about 10 during the night. Otherwise the place was fine, guess they can't protect against others people bringing them in......____________________________HOSTEL MANAGER'S RIGHT OF REPLYLet's talk about bedbugs openly! Bedbugs are tenacious travellers, and can be found in campgrounds, hostels, and five-star hotels. They are a pest, but are not a transmittor of disease. They're not invisible, as some folks think, but dark brown in color, and beetle-like. Easy to spot in crevices and in dark corners, as they don't like light. We have a stringent anti-bedbug policy, which includes not allowing people to use sleepsheets or sleeping bags anywhere in the hostel, and a strict debugging/spraying regime that follows the general lifecycle of bedbugs. This keeps the problem to a minimum. We can't, however, keep people from bringing them in. We rely on our guests to let us know if there is a problem, and we immediately set ourselves to the task of eradicating the situation. If you are bitten during your stay at any hostel, you should immediately notify the hostel or hotel staff and make sure your laundry is done on the hottest setting your clothes can handle, and your backpack, sleepsheets, and sleeping bag should be shaken and left out in the sun. The hostel staff should take your bed apart, spray at the joints, and give you new sheets and bedding. This should stop the problem at its source, and you won't bring the problem elsewhere. In this particular case, our guests didn't say anything to the management during their three day stay until they checked out. If they had just mentioned the problem, their stay could have been five-star, instead of one-star.

We stayed 2 nights last year at Krumlov House and found it pretty much as everyone says - the hosts are great - go out of their way to help and give information, it's clean and they even make your bed for you! There are enough showers and toilets and any rules that they have are just there to make everyones stay a happy one. It's relaxed, friendly and clean. What more could you want...

OOOH Krumlov House, how i miss you!!!!Stayed here for a pleasant 2 nights, although i wish it was 200.Mark and Kavita, the managers, went out of their way to make süre that we were happy, even sitting us down to go thru a map they put out.The kitchen is amazing, and although we ate out alot, the free tea and coffee was used to its max. Plentiful supply of herbs and spices to use. Kavitas cooking made all our mouths water. It has a very homely feel to it. Fantastic at the end of a journey and alsö during the middle of winter when you can watch the snow land on this beautiful city.Caught up on much needed sleep here on these beds to die for.Showers were super hot and had heaps of pressure to them which is delightful after a long day.Common room is the best place to sit down, have free reign over the cd stack, catch up on a few mags, read a few books etc and just watch the world go by.Make sure you go to satlava restaurant. Its true czech cuisine.Go skiing it you can.Just whatever you do, stay here.

Krumlov House is like the hostel you dream of finding on your travels. Clean (no shoes in the hostel to keep it that way), comfortable (beds not bunks, enough space, enough showers/toilets), friendly helpful staff, interesting travellers, great atmosphere, and cheap. I would have stayed longer than my two days there, but they were booked up.Any downsides? Slightly further from centre than other hostels (but CK is a small place), not everyone who wants can stay as it is small, you might not like seeing peoples feet!

Greetings fellow travellers. Those before me have done a pretty good job of explaining this hostel (equally suited to be called a home). After arriving, it took me a day to chill out after the preceeding weeks of madness and high activity, but once I allowed myself to relax and take it easy, I think I got to experience the true benefit of a hostel of this nature. That's not to say that there isn't stacks to enjoy in and around the town (so people tell me), but I chose to collapse and relax. Assuming my experience was the norm, you will most probably meet some extremely interesting and entertaining travellers along the way.The hostel is a nice comfy size, where if you don't know everyone's name after a couple of days, you can at least recognise the faces. The hosts are exceptional - always with the travellers benefit in mind. They know the area extremely well and will direct you happily - even if it is the millionth time they have been asked the same question. In the unfortunate even this hostel is fully booked, Hostel 99 seemed to get good reviews, though well populated by Busabouters. Their food is excellent too :)One word of warning - if you think Salzburg or Vienna are just up the road and a quick and easy commute, think again. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but be sure to allow a good 7 hours in total by public transport. It's certainly worth it :)Finally, I must thank the hostel for undertaking to forward an irreplaceable home made CD I had clumsily left in the DVD player. I look forward to going back some day!

Krumlov House became my second home for the first time when I stumbled upon it 3 years ago. I've been back a few times, not just to revisit Krumlov's enchanting alleys but to return to Krumlov House to see the wonderful family that owns it. I was honoured the amazing experience of managing the hostel for them and can proudly say that they have they have the traveller's interests and well being at heart (there are no bunk beds here either!). The staff truly love what they do, as well as getting to know all you interesting wandering folk, or maybe just getting down to a good game of chess or settlers of cattan...go ahead, see for yourself... the magic is really there.

Planned to stay for a day or two and ended up here almost a week. This town is a great place to relax and get rejuvinated for the rest of your trip. Everyone at hostel was friendly and helpful. Was able to participate in the "Witches Festival" far up in the hills which was pure magic----totally recommend

I spent quite a bit of time in old Krumlov... It is a beautiful place, which is always warm and accomdating. It is run by a group of people that love what they do and are constantly seeking to make it better... I went for a few days and stayed a couple of weeks... It was cold time of year but always a beautifully warm place to be... (literally and figuratively). Few people arrive and leave when they planned... you become entranced by the town and the place and you just can't leave... the happiest trap

More like a house than a hostel, possibly why we liked it so much. We were actually stuck there during the floods and we were extra glad we did. Krumlov House was one of only two hostels that escaped the flood being up on the hill. The other hostel had no power for 4 days though, so Krumlov definitely won out there! The booking system is a little random we'll admit, but we were accomodated with an extra mattress on the floor for the first night, before other beds were available. The lounge is very cosy and comfortable with satelitte TV to watch the floods elsewhere. All the travellers got together to put on a feast using up all the leftover food as the supermarket was closed. It was an absolute highlight of our trip staying at Krumlov House!
