This hostel was decent. I found everyone to be friendly, and my reservations kept me from having to keep changing rooms (its a very busy hostel). There are definitely more than two showers (I don't know who said that). My room was on the 4th (top) floor, and we did have mice, but it was also very quiet. I went back for one night later in my trip, and stayed in a 10-person room on the main floor (it was a bit cheaper than the 6-person I had stayed in before), but it sucked. It was loud and the kitchen was next door. The moral of the story is stay high up and splurge an extra buck or two if you like to sleep.

I found this hostel to be one of the best i have stayed in, on arrival i was greeted by a friendly receptionist, the check in was quick and thorough. The rooms are a bit small, but efficient, the rooms were cleaned daily and the showers and toilets too. The location was very central. The bar offered a bit of relaxation after a heavy day of sight seeing. I would stay here again when i come back from europe.

ok so this place does has its good points the bar is rather entertaining, and the location is quiet and very convenient. but im afraid my glowing review stops there. the staff is horrible. one screamed at me for ten minutes when i lost my key. the building should be condemned its over run with mice while the cleaning crew did quite loudly wander into my room while sleeping im at a loss trying to figure out what they did. they also played the musical room game with me. in my week there i stayed in four different rooms. but the main thing i cant get over is the reception staff i have never in my life met people who hated there jobs so much. i highly reccomend staying away

I just got back from my trip and this was the worst hostel we went to and i was in europe for a month. The rooms were clean enough but there was others in the hostel complaining of mice and rats in their rooms. The bathrooms were dirty and if you plan on getting any sleep, dont bother because the bar in the basement will keep you up all night long.There was quite alot of switching around if you were there for a few days, which was a pain.We found the staff to be very rude and not helpful at all.The only thing nice about it was the location. Right across from Hyde Park so it was easy enough to get away from the hostel. The metro was a block away which was great. The travel agency next to the hostel was very friendly and helpful. And there was good locks on the doors and some rooms had a terrace outside.But the thing is, i would never go back there again.

My first few nights here were good, the room was neat and clean. Then I was informed that I had to move because they had made a mistake in the booking! Then the creepy guy that was in my original room was magically booked into my second room. Bathrooms weren't a problem for me, weren't the cleanest either. My friend joined me a week later and the bed I'd reserved for her wasn't available or even on record. All in all, the facilities are good but the service is crap- there are some nice people there though. There are masses of stairs, some which have no apparent purpose other than to make life difficult.

Hated this hostel. I arrived late at night and found the staff to be rude, was put in a stiflingly hot room , and woke to find that there was only 2 showers in the whole place!! Good points are that it's in a nice area- very close to Bayswater tube station. It's got good security- swipe cards and lockers available(for a price) in the rooms. Room was spacious, but found it to be rundown, and generally an awful experience.

I have stayed at this hostel a few times and my general overview is that it is very hit and miss in the service it provides. Some of the staff are particularly helpful though there are a number of very rude people working there. The rooms are cleaned daily but there are some ongoing maintenance issues that seem to be patched up rather than thoroughly fixed (duct tape on the floor to cover the holes in the carpet, space filler to fill in holes near pipes). The showers are generally clean, as are the toilets. There are lots of long term residents in the hostel and sharing a room with them often means you lose out on your own space (i.e sleeping with your backpack because of the lack of floor space!) Some of the smaller rooms (the 4 or 6 bed rooms) are very small and cramped and you would be better off saving yourself the money and staying in a bigger room (I have found the 8 bed rooms to be fairly spacious!) All in all, the hostel is ok though certainly nothing special. It's fantastic positioning really makes it stand out though!

Hyde Park Hostel is a complete and total dump! I have been to many hostels in London and europe in my lifetime and I have never encountered a place so thoroughly dirty and so badly managed. Not only were the facilities dirty and old but the staff and people staying at the hostel of druged up. Stay away from this hostel at all cost.
