if you can get past the people living on the stairs, you will find overcrowded coed rooms, broken showers and toilets, carpets that haven't been cleaned since Elizabeth became queen, paint fumes, people who are rude to Americans, flat pillows and hard beds. at least the guy behind the desk, Guy, was nice and helpful.

Earls Court is a great location if you're staying in London and the Silver Fern is what I'd call a convenient place to stay. There's a Sainsbury Supermarket just around the corner which is great if you're looking for cheap food (well cheap by london standards). It's also not that far from the Earls Court tube station.

It's not that clean and it is cramped but when you're backpacking you have to expect that sort of thing unless you want to pay more money! The toilets and showers a crappy and can sometimes find yourself having a cold shower. One bonus I supose is that it has Sky TV in the Lounge and internet but it is advised to go to the Internet place down the street.

I found this place to have a good feel about it and to be reasonably safe but like always it still pays to be a bit cautious. Plenty of Australians and New Zealnders there and at certain times lots of Spanish and Italians.

I've stayed there twice and it can't be that bad as I'm going back there in July.
