I stayed at st christophers in july and had a ball. the staff told me that this was the original st christophers which made sense because fair enough it doesn't have all the mod cons but it does have an great atmosphere and there are other st christophers hostels on the same street where you can use all there facilities as well. 10 out of 10 for the hot tub!!!!

I booked myself into this hostel and then found the reviews right before my trip and I wasnt too sure what to expect from the my experience. Alot of the reviews on here are out of date and having travelled alot I knew that the staff at hostels tend to change all the time but I was still unsure as to how good an environment it would be. So I went any way.

Check in was sort of difficult because it was down the street but the people on the front desk were quite helpful and actually booked my in to their hostel in Brighton as well during the time I was there. Once I got to my room the first thing I did notice was an add for a comedy night which was a really cool thing to have at a hostel and something I wouldnt have expected to find. I ended up staying for 5 days at the hostel and made friends with the bar staff who were quite knowledgable about the area and could drink like fish. It was a complete blast staying there and I'm glad I tried it out despite some of the scary reviews on here. I do agree that things arent perfect but no hostel is perfect, and maybe things werent sparkling but who pay attention to the the tiny details when your spending your days in a huge city seeing all kinds of really cool and historic things then spending all night drinking and "pulling" the local women. So anyone looking for a great place to stay, try st. christophers, I had a great time and will be back.

Stay at St Christopher's Village instead, March 30, 2003

This hostel is second rate to St Christopher's Village about 200 metres down the road from it. For starters, this hostel does not have its own reception, as it uses the one at the Village. This leads to heaps of confusion for newcomers arriving at the hostel. The location isn't great either, with little to do around the surrounding area at night.

The building itself is narrow, dark and kinda creepy. Rooms are extremely small with dodgy beds. The bathrooms are horrible and tiny: there is hardly any leg room for the toilet, hot water isn't guaranteed and it is dirty.

Though it is not a comfortable place to stay, the worse thing about this hostel is that it feels like a cheap attachment to the Village. The Village has the bar, internet and everything else you want. Hence, you end up having to hang out there as there is nothing at the Inn. The common room is located in the basement and is isolated and not cosy. The breakfast here is not bad, but once again it is at the Village.

The rooms were fairly clean, the staff quite friendly. I had no problems with the bathrooms. But the hordes of people yelling in the hallway and slamming doors in the middle of the night were ridiculous! I like to party myself, and have a very high tolerance for that kind of thing, but this was absurd. VERY difficult to sleep on on night in particular. Still, I'd consider staying there again.

i stayed in st christophers for a few days and i thought it was a good hostel. the staff was really cool and they were willing to help without any problems. i stayed in both of the hostels and i felt that the southbank hostel was much better. it was far cleaner than the village and it was near the reception desk and where breakfast is held every morning. the hostel near the village had a bunch of local punks hanging outside the doorway untill early in the mornings. overall i would recommend anyone to stay in the southbank hostel. it was cheap and within walking distance of all the good sights (unless you are walking to the britsh museum)

If you're on a budget you won't do much better than this. Not many places in the centre of London that you can stay at for under 15. Ok it's not the Ritz but you get what you pay for and I for one would rather spend less on accomodation and more on going out.

It's clean enough, the rooms are secure and they feed me in the morning. What's more you'll meet other travellers here. The staff are travellers or ex travellers too, so they know what we're about and there's areas to lounge around in if you're too lazy or hung over to go out.

Check out one of the St Christophers hostels and make up your own mind up.

Totally excellent place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. The hostel was clean, comfortable and secure and we all felt totally safe during our visit.

We had the choice of three places in which to either chill out, have a quiet coffee or party, and our card allowed us access to all of it. There's a brilliant hot tub at 161, High Street with tv rooms at two of the places to chose from.

Good staff, good facilities, good food, amazingly good value considering how close to the center of London you actually are.

A definite must-stay on our return here later on!!

PS. I've read a review that say there should be a pinball machine on the premises. They never claimed to have one, so I'm not sure where they got that from!!!

My friend and I stayed at 121 St Christophers last week and we found the staff to be really helpful - in fact they helped us organise some trips out in London which were great. We had a really comfortable twin bed room - clean, quiet. It was much better than hostels like the Flying Pig in Amstedam.

Hostel food was cheap and plenty of it - the pub had a good atmosphere and there was a really great party on the Friday night we stayed.

We would recommend it - we are going to try the St Christophers in Edinburgh that has just opened.

After staying at 121 Borough High Street for a few nights i would highly recommened it to anyone. The friendly staff and good all round atmosphere helped make my stay much more comforatable than i could have ever expected. The home sickness soon disappeared as i partied the night away with so many new found friends... now in Edinburgh i look forward to visiting the new Belushi's and staying at the new St Christophers.... the next adventure begins!!!!!

Great place to party at weekends with frendly bar staff and clean. The Village sister hostel up the road does have a hot tub and has a really cool bar.
