I stayed here a few nights. I didn't hang out at the hostel besides just sleeping there, but I had a good time. The bar, courtyard, good location, for the price, it's worth it. The only bad thing about it is the lockout and curfew. Either than that, worth checking out.

i stayed there twice recently. the first time i was actually satisfied with it. however, when i got there the second time, i found out that they hadn't reserved my beds. i showed the guy (who was a real jerk) my email confirmation, and all he did was offer me a free pint of beer and sent me down the street to a hotel. the hotel didn't have enough beds to accomodate me and my friend, so we had to share a bed that night and it still costed us more money than the three ducks, and didn't have free breakfast. everything else in paris was booked by then, so we had no other choice. another guy at three ducks said that we can still come for free breakfast and use the kitchen. in the morning, however, the breakfast lady said that "breakfast is only for customers." when i asked her who the manager was (several times), she refused to give me a name. the most detail i got was "it's a dutch lady who's not here." not a good sign when an employee doesn't want customers to know who the manager is.

overall, if you're willing to risk dealing with shitty management, 3 ducks is your typical backpackers hostel. however, if you're looking to avoid what happened to me, go elsewhere. they even admitted to me that this happens regularly. and there is no shortage of good, legitimate youth hostels in paris.

I know that no hostel in Paris is awesome. This one is all right. I was reading the other reviews and someone said that it was dirty and then a manager replied back and said it was not dirty. Well, the manager is so wrong! I am not talking about the rooms or the bar area. I am talking about those nasty showers in the courtyard. They are so nasty! If you look up at the ceiling there are so many spider webs and dirt! I was so scared that a spider would jump on me. Umm hey, why can't you guys get that cleaned up when you lock us out from 11-5? I didn't even feel clean afterwards, felt dirty. One of the girls that worked there was kind of rude at times. I think she got annoyed because I asked to many questions, but hey that is your job! Otherwise, I wasn't in Paris to sleep the whole time, so it is a decent place to spend the night. It does get noisy at nights, but I got over that. If you want to take a shower, go to the second floor showers. Those are a bit better.

This place was ok but not great in any way. The good things are that it is right in the heart of Paris. You can walk too the Eifle Tower and the Metro is near. The staff seems friendly enough and the bed was comfortatable. On the down side if you stay in a big room you have too share one key with about 11 other people so most of the time the door too the room is left open. The showers are on the bottom floor so if your staying on the third floor this can be bad for you. We had one shower attached too our room but there was stagnant water trapped in the bottom of it. The showers are push button. The hostel has a curfew of 2am and your locked out of the room between 10 and 5 so it's kind of like living with your parents in that you have too leave during the day like going too school and then you have too be in by a certain time. Stay here if your not too high maintenance. Otherwise find another place.

I showed up on a whim at the 3Ducks in late april 2003 and was given a bed for 2 nights, not an outrageous price for travelling Europe as far as i was concerned. The staff seemed real helpful when i asked for things to see and do in the city and they recommended Mikes bike tours which showed you all of Paris that i wanted to see in 4 hours. The patrons of the place made it,I met Lots of Canadians Americans and Australians, some Spanish and Dutch too.

The showers had to be the worst part of the whole place, that is the filthiest shower i have ever stood in,i am so glad i had my sandals with me,it did the trick though, even with the cold water. The breakfast lady was a true bitch and that piece of bread with jelly and coffee didnt even phase me.The Bar was overpriced but the good company made up for it if you wanted to have a good normal conversation with others in English. If you want to be a Premadonna, don't go to this place.

3 Ducks Hostel is the ghetto of all Hostels. Never mind the 'lock-out' ... or any other 'quirky' rules, they are soon forgotten as the stench of filth, and the sensation of lice/bugs/whatever makes your skin crawl.

You enjoy a screeching fishwife w/a foul mouth? Drunks abound? How about missing Travel Cheques and credit cards that the "staff" doesnt want the other guests to know about?? That topped it all off!! Tossed out on yer bottom if you 'tell' any of the other guests ..

You can keep 3 Ducks Hostel. No 'great' location is worth

slumming like that.

If you dont like this place why are you backpacking? Hostels like the Three Ducks dont come along often. Yes there are things that they could do better like supplying every bed with pillows but lets face it the hostel is in France for God's sake!

I loved my stay there which was back in September and really wish I could have stayed on longer, the people who stayed there were fantastic - yes the staff were a little arrogant but then isn't that a Parisian charecteristic? - the rooms/bathrooms were clean and the kitchen stayed open 24hrs which was ideal for the late night munichies!

Basically if you dont like this place you should not be backpacking!

Stayed there two nights. This place is not as bad as my dog's kennel. I liked it though. I'll refrain from rating the staff... If you're a beauty queen, stay away from here. It is functional, that's it, it is called roughing it! The beds are the one thing that every person will hate, you can only get to sleep once the person in the bed above you is already sleeping, else forget about it, you'll get seasick.

Overall, I liked the place, it served its purpose. Cheap accom. Perfect for backpacking...
