BUG Review
What this hostel lacks in maintenance and cleanliness, it makes up for in charm. Funky decorations and intimate common areas draw a good crowd and provide a fun atmosphere for young backpackers. Down a side street in Montmartre with good security, it is a great choice for women travelling alone as well as party-minded university students. The bathrooms (one on each floor) are rather dirty, but the rooms are spacious, mattresses are thick and comfortable, and they offer free Wi-Fi access and table football in the well-equipped basement kitchen. Great place to meet people.

I'd highly recommend this hostel, the communal kitchen and bar area means its really easy to make friends, the rooms are fine, simple, basic, hostel rooms. Although its a little out of the way of stuff in the city, you've got the metro just up the road and thats cool, you can get everywhere you would need to with ease. If there was anything that could do with improving, its the showers and toilets, there was only one on our floor, but there was also only about 10 people on our floor. In general they could do with renovation but other than that they are perfectly useable and its a good place to stay for the price. We heard bad stuff about hostels in paris, this one is clean enough, no bed bugs or security problems, no hassle, go for this one, I'd say.

Yikes. By far the worst place of my month-long trip. Here is a run down of the problems of this place:Security - nonexistant. Our first night there a woman came in to all of the rooms and stole money out of people's bags. There is one key to each room, which is kept at the front desk. Basically anyone could go up and ask for it.Kitchen - consists of two hot plates and a sink, with some dishes and storage, and a small fridge. ew.Bathrooms - fine, but shared with ~20 people each.Location - good (in Monemarte, near Sacre Coeur and Anvers Metro stop) and bad (kind of shady).Rooms - tiny, no lockers, and many have no windows. Conclusion - It will do in a pinch, but be sure you sleep on your valuables. What we did, and what I suggest anyone else does, is go right across the street to the Perfect Hotel, you can get a single with a full bed for 37 Euro a night. Especially good if you are traveling with someone you don't mind sleeping next too.

1st the good:I stayed here in October of 2003 and what sets this hostel apart is the price. We paid 15 euro for beds in a dorm, this is the off-season price, and it seems that other Paris hostels don't begin their off-season rates until November. This is quite a bargain for Paris. I was happy with our room, 4 beds (2 bunks,) we had our own shower and sink, tho the toilet is across the courtyard. The atmosphere is really great, interesting people ready to talk and drink beer out front. the hostel sells beer for 2 euro each, you can't bring in your own alcohol but that rule doesn't apply to a bottle of wine for dinner. breakfast is wonderful, fresh hot rolls from the local bakery with hot chocolate, and (most shocking) you can take 2 or 3!!the location was both good and bad, on the one hand it was nice to be in a residential place without tourists. other reviews said it is far from the sights, but Paris is huge and the sights are spread out so you are going to end up taking the metro no matter where you are. there are no bars so it is difficult to go out - the metro stops running before midnight and i would not recommend getting a taxi, it took me an hour to get one to stop for me one night (apparently they all respond to phone calls??) which was my worst experience in Paris. but most mornings i was up early to sightsee anyway so early nights didn't matter.there is a lockout from 11-4 but it's not as bad as it sounds, only the rooms are locked so you can still use the toilet, sit in the common room and use the kitchen. ok the kitchen is really only a hot plate but it works for pasta.the bad: our room was COLD!!! the heater didn't do much good. luckily a warm blanket is free and i had sweats and warm wool socks. if you are coming to paris in the winter this would be the only reason i would warn you to stay away.

When I checked in at the reception of the Hostel, I received a paper with conditions about the curfew 2:00 am and the lock out 11:00 pm-4:00 pm. This information wasn't shown on the website of the Hostel. The price of the room where I stayed was absolutely not acceptable. If it were a hotel, the room wouldn't even meet the requirements of a single room for one person. Very clever of you to rent this room to 6 persons at the price of 17 euros per person. Also, the website didn't show any picture of the rooms so I already had a bad feeling about this.

This hostel is made for people on quick trip to Paris. The location is not bad, close to the metro, but also close to red light district. All of the staff were nice and welcoming when I was desperately finding place for the night. The facilities of Woodstock Hostel are so-so, the shower was dirty also the floor of the bathroom. Each of the dorm rooms has 10 beds, which is nice for meeting people, but not when these same people stumble in to the room at 4 a.m. (this is not rare thing) after drinking. For backpackers who want to appreciate more than the bars, I would suggest some place else, but it will do in a pinch.

we began our stay in Paris at the montclar montmarte, but only lasted one night as it was an absolute dump. we moved to the woodstock, and found it to be pretty good. decent sized dorms, close to a metro station, very nice breakfast included, has a small courtyard and a little space indoors to be social, and the reception doubles as a bar selling bottled beers. though it does have a 2am curfew. as far as cheap accommodation in Paris goes, i reccommend staying here.

I thought Woodstock was located a bit away from the main attractions in Paris, but it is in a nice area where access to everything is quite easy. The staff was very friendly and the common room at the reception desk is very inviting. The rooms are basic, but clean and reasonably priced. I also thought it was nice to stay in a place where there weren't 10 people staying in the room together. The small kitchen downstairs is also a plus, not to mention the baguettes and coffee for breakfast. Take it for what it is, a hostel, and enjoy Paris with your stay.

I stayed here in late June of 2003, and for the money, in Paris, its not bad. The beds and sheets were clean, and my room had a window. Also, the showers worked, but definitely bring sandals, there was a nice 3 inch layer of water in there. There were two staff there when I went, both of whom were fluent in French and English (but they both seemed a bit depressing and weren't that nice). The construction is very traditional, with a cool winding staircase. Its also close to a nice area of MonMartre, hike uphill for 5 minutes and you'll find a really cool Egyptian Hooka bar.
