I wish they had a 0 star because this place deserves it. Stop considering this place and look at others. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I was stupid enough to ignore the bad reviews that this place received and that was a bad mistake. The place has the tiniest stair well which makes lugging your bag dangerous.

My girlfriend and I had a double which turned out to be a mattress hardly big enough for the two of us that was lying on the floor. On top we're very old looking blankets covered in hair and clearly not washed since the place opened. We found out that it wasn't just the two of us in the best we had some bed bugs to keep us company. The rooms aren't clean and the showers match. They weren't cleaned in the 4 nights in hell that we stayed there.

Music, talking and lights infultrated our room until the early hours of each night so sleep is out of the question. Breakfast was a coffee and croasant, had better. We couldn't believe we paid 50 Euro for this.

After staying in hostels throughout Europe and USA I know what makes a good hostel, this isn't one of them. DO NOT STAY HERE. DO NOT STAY HERE. In case your an idiot, DO NOT STAY HERE.

The name says it all.

I've stayed at other hostels in Paris, but this one by far has the best location. In the heart of Paris. Everything from cafes, restaurants, bars, farmer markets, are right outside the door step. You will definately have a good experience here. As for the hostel itself, only 'bad' thing is the lobby area, not too much room, quite small (at least compared to other hostels), but you won't spend much time in there anyways, as you will be in wonderful-romantic....PAREE!

For those of you that haven't been there, here is a picture:

This place was welcoming. Rooms were good-sized, with a basin. The drawback was that there was only one shower (one was closed for decorating) and two toilets for approx 20 people. Breakfast was included and was nice. The location is fantastic and the area is probably the best I have stayed in, in a city! The staircases are narrow so manoeuvering big backpacks was quite tricky. It was pretty quiet - but we were on the top floor! I would recommend it, because of the great location and restaurants and supermarkets are on the door-step! It is expensive compared to some places (I stayed in a hotel in Florence for a mere 3 euros more per night - with tv, fan, own bathroom, breakfast!) but then everywhere in Paris is! All in all, a good hostel with fantastic location!

I feel I have to write a review of this place...I travelled to many cities in February and I have to say this hostel was the worst! It's one selling point is the location which really is great, a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame and it is in the Latin Quarter - a great area of Paris to walk around. There is also a laundry close by. But the negative things about this place made it the worst hostel for me by far. It was the most expensive hostel I stayed at, which I spose isn't so surprising considering it IS Paris, but for the 20 EURO a night you expect more than just location.

On arriving in our room, there was one bunk and one single. The beds were the worst - foam with a hug dip in the middle. The pillow they laid out on the bed was disgusting, it was covered in the drool of about a thousand travellers.

I got the top bunk which was about 10 inches from the ceiling which was a tad claustrophobic and painful too, as I bumped my head while getting into bed in the dark! The breakfast was a token gesture to say the least. Baguettes and jam, orange juice and a coffee that had grease swimming on the top of it. The showers and bathrooms were disgusting, there was nothing to dry hands on so people just used toilet paper, there was no bin so it just got dumped on the sink or the floor. You had to push a button on the shower to get hot water every minute or so. To top all this off, on my last night I realised that the little spots on my arms and neck were actually bed bug bites! I told the guy on reception in the morning and got the impression he didn't really care too much but he did ask me what bed I slept in. I had a nice time exploring Paris but I really felt ripped off by this place. It seems like they do nothing to earn the money you spend. Fair enough that when you are backpacking you do not expect The Ritz standards, but you do expect more than just location for your euros, and out of all the hostels I stayed in, this one seemed to care the least about the quality of your stay.

I'd just like to say that this place was great... ok some of the staff needed a bit of enthusiasm... a bit less noise maybe.. but overall I had a great time. I arrived in Paris not having made any reservations and got a place... but they turned away alot of people becayse they were booked (what to expect in august?!) the trick is to call early in the morning they keep a few number of spaces to the walkins. The other great thing about this place is that if you decide to stay another night you just have to pay before 10pm (if I remember correctly) and your room is garantied the next day. I ended up staying there for 8 days. The only inconvenience was the lock out... 10-5 is way too long especially after an 8 hour flight. But looking forward to staying there again in early 2004.

oh and I;m sick of baguettes LOL

Even though it's a bit pricey, I thought it was great. I ended up staying there for the bulk of my trip in France. The music was fun, and the crêperie up the strett, Au Petit Grec, (at least I think that's what it's called) has AMAZING crêpes and galettes for very very cheap. Four euros for a MONSTER! This is not the place to go if you're expecting quiet, but it's a place to go if you like it loud and smoky.

Very good location in Mouteffard, lots of cafe, small restaurants and bars. A bit noisy (music played until 2am everyday) but still bearable. Hot and powerful shower. Rooms a bit small but generally good. Breakfast typical....bread with butter and jam, coffe/tea/chocolate and orange juice.

This was my first hostel I've stayed at, and the best so far! Rooms are limited to four people tops, the location is in the narrowest, most parisian setting imaginable, with ammenities and activites all just 20 seconds away! A bit crowed and small, but it allows for instnat friends. I will be back there again this summer for sure

Just got back from Paris yesterday, stayed here for the weekend. It was the first real hostelling experience for me and my friends (I'm 17), and we really enjoyed it. The hostel is fairly basic, and a bit rough around the edges, but the location is so, so great we didn't mind. Everything you need is very nearby, and it's a very safe and pleasant area. The staff were actually quite nice, even though I stupidly made the reservation for the wrong night, they fitted us in. The beds were very wobbly and a bit stained, and the showers and toilets weren't great, but the bar is cheap and it's a decent roof over your head at a good price. I would go back there just to be in this area.

I agree with Laura. I was there in early November. The noise didn't stop until 4:30am or so. Please beware that noise may come from someone who continue to play his/her guitar after another occupant had complained. I wish I could have joined the party (then it wouldn't be annoying) but I was tired and needed sleep for a good start the next day. I want to remind you that the room was small; worse was the ceiling was very low, which wasn't a problem until I was sleeping on the top bunk, and smelt cigarette smoke coming from downstair that had gotten through the door crack. My friend who slept in the bottom bunk didn't have the same problem (but she avoided taking shower.) This is the worst hostel throughout my adventure in Scotland and Western Europe. (Now back in America.) They need better maintainance. I wish I had come to this website before. Planning to return to Paris during spring break, so I'm searching for a better place to stay.
