I was here from March 6th-March9th

This hostel is a stones throw from Munich HBF...

As far as the hostel is was good, although I have seen much better. Cool bar serving good beers. Open late.

I was in a 22 bedded dorm. It was OK...but very noisy... especially the jackass who kept hitting snooze on his alarm. Friendly staff.

Flying into Munich, taking the S-Bahn to the main train-station, the Hostel was just 50 Meters away from it, great location.

The staff was really friendly, and we were happy to have reserved our room, because the hostel seemed to be quiet famous and full, so it was booked out, that and the following nights.

The bar, just next to the reception was already full, very good beer, you have to try it.

We stayed in a Double room which had the quality of a normal hotel, very clean, big, TV etc.

They had nice informations about going out in the evening, there is a Beer hall called Augustiner, you have to go to, and were open 24 hours, so we didn't have problems, coming home.

There is a great crowd in the hotel, we met lots of nice people, and felt great there.

Best recommendations

We assumed you could get a room here in Feburary w/o a reservation, but you may not. The workers were not nice about it either, I'll refer to them as assclowns. I asked how Jaegar's Hostel is which is right next door and he said "they weren't competition". We went to Jaegar's anyway and had a really good experience it was clean, The Nicest Room we stayed in was the 6-person private is was like a hotel and even had a TV. Munich is a great city, also eat at the Weissinsterger about two blocks away.

Hostel Manager's Right of Reply

Wow. To be awarded one star when the guy never got past our reception I find a little harsh. (I've always thought it was quite a nice reception!). The fact that we manage to fill our beds in February is something Im not about to apologise for, instead I see it as proof of our popularity (and quality). Finally our receptionists are not 'Assclowns' (!?!) but are all young, friendly, well mannered, multi-lingual (ex-) students/backpackers. If they didn't recommend our neighbours it was probably because they consider there to be better alternatives.

I am not a huge fan of hostels but I have found this to be one of the best. The key is to pay the extra 2.50 and stay in a 3-4-5 room. My room was amazing, clean and quiet - we had a sink and even a TV! I found the bathrooms to be one of the cleanest as well - no need for those shower shoes either!

The only problem I had was that in my 3 bed room I was put in with a couple - if they separated sexes I would have given it five stars!

I stayed at the Euro Youth Hostel after a meddening three days in Bucharest and Budapest. As a lone Texan from America, I am fairly fluent in German, and I had a hard time adjusting to the cryllic alhpabet of these cities. Nonetheless, I escaped to Munich, and found this cool hostel at the last minute just steps from the Hauptbanhoff. Very large, with a friendly staff, and a great cheap bar right off the lobby. I arrived to find a cool 5-bunk room for me (two-2-bed bunks,a nd one single...which was MINE!) with in-suite shower and sink. The door to the restroom was broken (the center window in the door was smashed, but someone had hing a towel for a bit of privacy). One thing that I learnbed after years of backpacking is that the peoplke make the hostel, and I met no less than 10 people within 30 munites at the bar to go to the Augustiner Bierhalle with and then party on many hours after. I would highly recommend this hostel to everyone. Let me know your thoughts.

I stayed here end of December 2003 and quickly moved hostel. The smaller rooms may be better but the dorm room i stayed in had no lockers and anyone could get in given the poor security system. The hostel is basically a pub that happens to have beds. The whole place stinks of smoke and the only lockers they do have (20 Euro key deposit thank very much!) are near the bar and only big enough for a handbag. The staff will encourage you to pay as much as possible up front (I think cause as soon as you experience the place you will want to leave). For the dorm rooms you have to walk down stairs to the 2 showers which also smell like smoke. I stayed in 3 different hostels in Munich, this was the most expensive and the worst. Check out the 4u hostel if you want somewhere clean and secure to stay. (It is still just as close to the station).

We loved this hostel in every way. We had a twin room with shared facilities. Both were very clean. There were only two showers on the floor, and they did smell strange, but were clean. The breakfast was the best of all the hostels I visited in Europe, with breads, juice, meats, and fruit. The staff was really polite and helpful too. The location was great (across from the train station) and central to all the great sights in Munich. I would surely stay here again.

I am liking my stay at the Euro Youth Hotel very much. It is one of my favourit hostels in europe.

It is very central, clean, ok price and good atmosphire.

Munich too is a very interesting city. Not as beautiful as some places (although still attractive) but lot of stuff to do.

this really is a very nice place. Friendly staff, a fun ambience and the cleanest toilets I've found in Europe.

Perfect location too.
