This hostel is located close to the train station and the beer gardens. The pub crawl that meets in the lobby was outrageously fun! Don't eat the breakfast because it isn't worth the money but there are plenty of restaurants nearby plus an internet cafe.

* Great location near the main train station* Bathrooms(WC's) on some floors have no hot water and bad lighting. Every rooms does have it's own sink with both hot and cold running water.* No towel service* OK bar.* For internet service, go down the road to the Easy Internet cafe. 1 Euro for 15 minutes vs 1.5 Euro for 1 hour.* Checkin was hassle free and well organized. Online signup is a plus.* Bathrooms not always very clean.* Linens are clean and are provided. * Overall security could be better.

Hello, my name is leigh boycon, just writing a quick note to say that i just recently stayed in the euro youth hostel in munich, and I would like to say that it is one of the best hostel"s I have ever stayed in , the service was great , i ended up drinking with alot of the staff memebers after hours and we had a great time, the hostel itself was all ways very tidy the toilet and bathroom facilitys were spotless for a hostel it was like a five star hotel in that respect, just everything in general , was great, I"d heard a couple of stories about the place from other travelllers and from what I gather they had the same to say , as a traveller it"s always a problem at getting around of finding places but like I said the staff were always at hand to tell me anything I needed to know and because of the situation , it"s very central to everything and so close to the train station and thats always good especially after an overnight train , all in all I would highly recommend anyone if anytime in munich thats the place they should be staying , yours trully Leigh Boycon

I booked 5 nights here from The Circus in Berlin. They did not tell me any policies that the Euro Youth hostel had on minimum nights stay. I arrived in the evening and received my room and was also told that there is only one key for every room. You must bring it back if you are the last person leaving the room. Very bad process to me, especially if you're staying in a 6+ person room. Can't they afford to make copies of keys?! (this was the only place in 6 countries I visited that had such a diliquent process)I decided not to stay there the 4 remaining nights because of the chain smokers packing the bar, the lousy and rude staff and the overall feel of the hostel. There was a great, clean hostel right next door that I booked my remaining nights (and also took credit card). This is when the horror began. I returned back the same evening to call it a night, and to inform the reception that I will be leaving the next morning. After having told them, they were a bit puzzled. Note: All over the hostel there are signs stating that if you do not pay for the next night's fare, you will lose your bed. So in my case, the policy completely satisified my situation since I only paid for that night. I walked up to my room and not less than a minute, the phone rang. The reception asked me to come down to speak with them. After inquiring what the problem was, they told me that I MUST stay for all five nights because they made special arrangements. I told them no way, and prepared to leave the next morning. They began to threaten me by stating they would kick me out if I at least didn't pay for the next night (and not be able to stay there either). Than the manager told me to get my bags and leave, without a refund! One of the staff even proclaimed, "This is our house. These are the rules we make!". I was shocked and out of breath.I went back and woke up a fellow American to tell him of what had just happened. I waited for 20 min. in complete confusion wondering if several guys would come up and throw our bags on the street in horror. Nothing happened and we woke up early to leave without any confrontation.I only gave it an extra star because if I had stayed for the stated reservations, nothing would have gone wrong except for the VERY RUDE and UNattentive staff. Stay away from this place if you don't want to feel like you're in a communist regime.

This hostel is very convenient as it is close to the train station. For Internet access, I recommend using Easy Access Internet Cafe across from the train station (although beware the drunken punks and thugs that congregate outside). The hostel price was higher than most, but the five-bed room I was in wasn't bad. Don't plan on leaving your pack in their storage unless you're staying the next night. Unlike every other place I stayed, they throw you and your pack out on the street unless you're staying a subsequent night. They had a sign on the luggage storage room that said storage was for incoming guests only. I wanted to spend the next day exploring Munich and leave later in the afternoon. After I gave the desk clerk a bit of a hard time, she looked in the luggage storage room, decided it wasn't that full, and let me leave my pack until that afternoon. But with all the signs, I'd say that is unusual for this hostel.Beware leaving anything out in the dorms -- particularly laundry. One of the guys in my dorm washed out his shorts and had them hanging near the sink. When the staff came in to clean the room, they threw his shorts in the garbage. He retrieved them from the trash covered in stains.I didn't check out the bar or breakfast. There were some shady types hanging around outside in the evening, but again, it's by the train station, which seems to be the trash magnet in every town in Europe.

The staff was nice and helpful to us, unlike a review I just read. But when we went, there was supposedly some sort of convention in Munich, so we paid 75 Euro per night for a double room. That's higher than any advertised price, and we had to make a cash advance into their bank which wound up costing a bit since it was an international transfer. I don't know if that's a normal requirement or just because we caught them in a really busy time. The double room was a good size with a TV, and it has a great location from the train station. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest that we've had, but they weren't horrible. We felt like we paid too much, but if the prices had been as advertised, this would have been a reasonable hostel.

A stone throw from the train station and about a short ten minute walk from the City Centre.Ask the staff to point you in the direction of Mikes Bike tour during the day(tour of the City) and 'The Crawl',a beer crawl run by two sound Aussies during the evening. The bar is also a good place to chillout in at night. Probably the most enjoyable and entertaining part of my tour around Europe last summer.

I've never had a problem with any of the Hostels recommended from this site before, but this establishment can only be described in one way: PATHETIC! The staff is incredibly rude, not even bothering to answer questions with correct answers, most of them speak such terrible English that their directions/answers are incorret. As well, it is entirely overpriced for what is offered: though they have prices on their website, I've discovered that even for a 18 person dorm they charge 24 euro, not including breakfast, nor sink in room. Really, these people survive by the fact they are close to the trainstation, and no other reason

I stayed in this hostel April 2003. I didn't realize the proximty of the place to the train station. It made things much easier when I had to take the trains. Also, the internet cafe is very close by and it only takes a few minutes to walk to the shopping areas. As for the room itself, it was very nice. I stayed in a 3 person bedroom. It had 3 big lockers to keep my stuff in as well as a washbasin. The showers were ok. Two of the showers on the floor were unnecessarily huge. It meant I had to wait to take a shower but not that long. A drawback was that they only had one key to the room and you had to return it to reception everytime you left. Also, the price was pretty steep for the room but worth it. I would recommend this hostel anytime.
