This hostel is really dark and drab... depressing just like Munich. I came to Munich hoping to experience some of it's "culture" (since it often totes itself as the culture capital of Europe), but all I've found are beer gardens. As for the hostel itself, some of the showers are ok (I like the hose-style shower head) but others are rather unclean. The brown crud at the bottom of the toilets is also unappealing. The rooms are pink and brown... again depressing, and the lights are really dim. The double rooms have phones which are a nice touch (and I think some have TVs). The price is fine, and the area good. The proximity to the main train station is fabulous (I'm saving a ton of money on transportation as a result). There is also an easy internet cafe nearby where travellers can get really cheap internet access. The washing machines in the hostel are ok (but there are only two so the lineup can be tiresome), and the dryers are pretty bad. My clothes came out smoking hot but still wet - strange and frustrating. I also wish the hostel included breakfast in the price (just some bread would be nice). The hostel is close to the starting point for most Munich tours. There are a number of cheap eats around the hostel, but stay away from the Pizza Hut at dinner time unless you're willing to pay for drinks.

I didn't like this place at all. It was pretty clean but I was crammed into one big dormitory room with about 15 other people. It was not a very friendly atmosphere for the lone traveller. I stayed there one night, and then quickly left. I went to the Jugendhotel Marienberge, Goethestr. 9 (a short walk away). The Marienberge is a MUCH better place. For the same rate that I paid at the Euro Youth Hotel, they put me in a spacious room with 3 other very friendly people, and they fed me a wonderfully large breakfast of meat, bread, fresh cheese and muesli (they even encouraged me to pack a bun and sliced meats and cheese for my lunch). The only catch: the place was run by non-English-speaking nuns and accepted only women travellers.

Euro Youth Hostel is a clean place close to city centre. You can reach all important places walking. Nevertheless it's a bit more like a hotel than a hostel.
