very standard stuff, good rooms, staff pleasant, but I cannot say 'hotel standard'! This is normal for a hostel in Ireland. Very central and good place to stay if you want to head off to the Aran islands as the ferry-bus goes from outside the door. Good base for a fun city.

Travelled with my friend around Ireland in spring, 2002, and happened to stay in Kinlay house, both in Dublin and Galway. Galway beets any other hostel i have been in (as a backpacker, quite a lot:), maybe except Steve's backpackers in Derry). Fot the price of hostel you get a quality of hotel, tidy and recently renowed rooms, efficient staff, very modest breakfast...and the problems with cleaning the hostel. When we arrived in the morning our room looked like a mess, and it took 3 hours to get a cleaner (they explained that 180 people have moved out that morning and there are just 4 of them to clean! Sounds a bit like fantasy. Prepare yourself for a lot of tourists and swans:) And do not miss Cliffs of Moher!

I stayed at Kinlay House for 5 ndyas in August, and had an awesome time- this place is almost like a hotel- dorms are spacious, lots seem to be ensuite, and the staff were great: friendly and helpful. They kept calling each other 'slapper'(?) beats me... but funny. Galway is the best city to relax in, not too small, not too big, with plenty going on. The only thing I didn't like was the small orange juice with breakfast and the lift was really slow, but overall, great place to stay!

Just spent 3 nights in the hostel. Very clean and the reception staff very efficient. On our 3rd day of stay we had to leave our room from the night before at 10.30am but didn't gain access to our new room until after 4.00pm. There was only 2 people cleaning the second floor which I feel was too few. Also the music that they play all day in the corridors is too loud and you are unable to go for an afternoon kip. Plus points are the location ..close to train and bus station as well as the main square and pubs. Will I go back..well only if i take my ear plugs!!!

Hi, we have stayed in the Kinlay hostel and had very much fun. The paintings are very nice and so is the very tall Australian man at the reception. Ask him to tell you his joke about the leprechaun and the camel. Our room was very clean too. There is a breakfast included but it is only just toast, coffee, tea and orange juice.

Great location, very big place. The dorms aren't that great, spacious though. The drains in the showers were all blocked when I was there. Some great murals on the walls, huge common area which is great for socialising. The nightlife in Galway was fantastic.

I cannot thank the Kinlay House staff enough for all of their help! I arrived in town on a Saturday night with no booking and found out that it is nearly impossible to find a bed in Galway on the weekend without booking in advance. Even though I was not a guest, the reception staff went out of their way to help me find a bed and stay off of the steet that night! Luckily, they had beds the next night so I actually got to spend one night at the hostel. The facilities and location are great...and the staff are tops! I will recommend your hostel to anyone going to Galway! Keep up the good work!
