Do not stay here. There is another hostel near Milan's city centre (15 min walk) for the same price and (shock, horror) the staff don't treat you like shit!Ask at the Central Station Information desk. They'll tell you where it is.

We did not plan on staying in Milan... but for various reasons (trains were full and booking systems not working to check before the trains arrived) we had to. We tried every discount hotel we had numbers for but no luck so were forced to go to the outer suburbs to this crappy hostel. One of those school camp kinda places, very institutionalised as mentioned in other reviews, and very inconvenient. I guess it was better than sleeping at the station but otherwise spend a little more for a hotel in town - and book far ahead.

The hostel in close to the exhibition area Fiera Milano. The metro station QT8 is 5 min walk from the hostel. The bus station in a few steps away from the entrance. The rooms are small, not very comfortable, but clean. The beds are very soft. Regular rooms (6 beds) are kept open but everyone gets a locker. Family rooms (4 beds) can be locked. During my visit in february, the bathrooms were clean, the rooms have being repainted and some bathrooms renovated. The mattresses have obviously being replaced with the new ones. The breacfast consists of a XXL cup of coffee, a little breadloaf, butter and marmelade. You can buy a drink from the drink dispensor anytime. You can get a free city map at the reception desk if you ask for it. Any way, the stuff was kind enough, helpful, quick and efficient. In brief, I have no complaints. It is only a youth hostel, after all.

I didn't find the hostel as bad as the others. Ok, its a bit like a school, but i've stayed in worse. The staff were actually ok. The major problem with this hostel is for girls. The main road and parks seem to be a haven for sex perverts. We were accosted by men 4 times in two days, in broad daylight. We told the hostel and the police but they didn't seem to care. Several other people i've spoken to have experienced similar problems. I wouldn't advise females going there alone.Anyway, there are much better places to stay in Italy than Milan, so just don't go there.

Where to start... This hostel is awful!!! First of all, it is located in a very inconvenient area. As mentioned in another review - you can get to the center of the city by subway, but then you will walk about 20 min. (which is not fun when you are wearing a large backpack). When you finally get to the location, it is still hard to distinguish the building. The staff are EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful. And, curfew is EXACTLY midnight. If you are 1 minute late, don't expect to be let in. The rooms are not well kept and the bathrooms were DISGUSTING! I didn't want to sit on the toilet seat, and skipped a shower for the one night I was held hostage there. I didn't even want to take my shoes off. Unfortunately, this is the only hostel is this big city. So, if you want to visit Milan, spend a little extra money to find a hotel or B&B. Don't waste your time with this prison!

Staff were unfriendly and it was really difficult to meet people. The rooms dont lock and the beds are a bit wobbly. There was never any toilet paper in the toilets in the mornings and the showers didnt look clean. You have to get the tube to get into the centre of milan but it only costs one euro and takes about 10mins. There are lockers for your bags though which was good.

Quite simply, the worst hostel I have ever stayed at.To start with the staff do not know where the hostel is from the Metro station (Lotto) hence we had to ask directions from a police officer. Having eventually found the place, to agree with Paul from USA, the staff are extremely rude. The rooms have no locks, the curfew is 12 midnight and the lights are switched off shortly after, regardless of whether you are in bed or not! Believe me, it gets worse. The toilets are that bad that I didn´t bother with a shower during my brief stay there. To be honest, I´d rather not bother going to Milan than stay in the Piero Rotta - it really is that bad. To make things worse, the breakfast is absolute garbage. One piece of bread and coffee served in a bowl. My friend and I went to Genoa instead and I can asure you that you will enjoy it much more!!

I agree with Diego from Argentina, but I would like to add that the stafff are very rude and very condensending. They unfortunately have a monopoly on the hostel market there since they are the only one that anyone knows of and they have almost 400 beds. They do not like giving directions and the directions that are posted are wrong. When I called for directions , they sighed and said "red line.......lotto....bye", excuse me I said, they repeated their response and hang up. They speak perfect english as well, nor is this one employee, nor is this all Italian hostels, nor were they busy at the time, alot of others had the same kind of reports.Well, here's what I found out:Red Line is the number 1 line in the subway going to station Lotto which is also the main bus station, then it's 15-20 min walk from there and you need a map to find it.Very unclear to find. Milan is nice, but the hostel sucked bigtime. I probably won't go back there unless I absolutely positively have to. I would rather pay 50-75 for a B&B or hotel.

I stayed in this hostel for a night, and found it clean and comfortable to sleep, and the common room is not bad.But besides that, it's like a jail. Men and women rooms are in different sides of the building (good privacy, but really boring), the toilets are awful, and the schedule is very strict (they switch off all the lights at 12am or so, for example). Breakfast sucks.
