because of a misunderstanding our internet reservation was only gulity for one night instead of 4. and that was a big luck for us.

one of the receptionists guided us to our double room. it was just as big as the two beds with dirty walls. But the real problem was the floor which was covered over and over with dark hairs. the receptionist noticed it, said something like: " obviously nobody had cleaned this room!", went away and was never seen again. nobody came to clean the room. it was disgusting.

This is by far the worst hostel I have ever stayed in! First of all, it's nothing like how they describe it on their web site. There is no common room, no bar, no kitchen, no free pizza...and the air conditioning there is a joke....out of 3 nights and two room changes, it only worked once....and they only turn it on anywhere from 11pm to midnight and it goes off at 7am....which does you know good when its 110 degrees during the day! The staff is not helpful and they all have a fake-friendly way about them....not worth the 22 euros per night.

Alessandro Palace is THE place to stay when in Rome. Our room was great with its own brand new bathroom and aircon (in 35degree heat this was AWESOME!). The people were really friendly and b'fast was fine (coffee and croissant). Definitely worthy of 5 stars once the common area is finished renovations. Ideal location a couple of streets back from the Termini.

Alessandro Palace was my first hostel experience ever and I doubt I'll ever have such a good one. Single sex dorms WITH Air conditioning! and own bathroom.

Very, very clean, staff on 24-7, breakfast (albeit it stale croissant and juice) included.

Staff very friendly - especially the Aussies of course! Will be back.

I stayed in alessandro palace last year and had the best time of my life. Clean and fun, free breakfast. Its also close to termini station which makes sight seeing easier.

The staff are fun, except for renzo and gianluca. I thought Tim Martin (one of the managers) was the funniest and kindest and most awesome person i had ever met. Victor smelled like a fart but was very helpfull.

The pizza party was also fun

For a big city, where either small and dirty or big and noisy are the typical options, Alessandro's fares quite well. The twenty euro dorms aren't cramped and include a nice breakfast, weekly pizza parties, a very usable kitchen and decent bathroom facilities. It is a very short walk from the train station, which means that the neighborhood is not so great and you do have to walk to the sites (but frankly, you're bound to do lots of walking in Rome), but the hostel itself was safe and staff is always on duty.

I found the Hostel Alessandro to be rather comfortable. The common area had internet access, a kitchen, television and many brochures lying around. The staff were informative as well and the majority of them spoke English.

This hostel is close to the Termini (about 15-20 mins walk) and has many restaurants and other services available which also have discounts with the hostel.

The things I liked best about this hostel was the free pizza dinner once a week (twice if you head down to the Alessandro Downtown as well), access to a kitchen, and the atmosphere.

The things I disliked were the plastic utensils/plates (they were rather moldy and gross), the small area called a shower, and the breakfast is kinda bland.

the hostel may be clean, have a good (free) breakfast, and a good location, but the staff is seriously lacking. We had reservations, in which we had to pay a 10% deposit, we were given rooms for 30 euros. We later called back and switch our reservations to a 22 euro room and were told that there would be no problems with anything (including the deposit). Upon arrival, we went to the Hostel Alessandro only to be told our rooms would be in the other hostel about 5 blocks away. Once arriving there they attempted to charge us 30 euros a person for a decent room, but not worth that much!! So after much arguing from the staff, we were give a room for 22 euros in yet a third location!! Finally once we got there and went to pay, they wouldn´t return our deposit!! saying they never received it!! The "man in charge" treated us like his 10 yr old child which he was trying to scold and was a complete jerk!! It had a good free breakfast and nice clean rooms, but not worth the hassle or the price!! If you are looking for meeting people or partying, this is not the place. We found it complete dead at nite filled mostly with older people (25 +). Avoid this place and head to M & J Hostel around the corner.

Although there was no air-conditioning, the rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. The staff was friendly and english-speaking, the showers and bathrooms clean, and the free breakfast was nice (oj and 2 rolls). Really close to the train station, and in an area that is not too conjested. Easy walk to all the main sights.

Hostel Alessandro is a 3 minute walk from Termini Railway Station and the Metro. There's is no cerfew, and the staff is nice,English speaking and helpful. The rooms are not air conditioned and in July it gets almost too hot to sleep. The rooms and bath rooms are co-ed, but there are locks on the showers so you have some privacy. The kitchen area is not as equipped as it could have been, but you'll manage fine. There are 2 fridges for your food, a common room where you can smoke and party, and there are also 2 computers with Internet access. The people passing through are very nice and easy to get to know if you are travelling alone, like I was. The price is ok, 35 ooo lire pr. night (about $20 or 14). I liked it, so I would recommend it to people on a budget. Have a nice stay at Hostel Alessandro!
