Probably one of the shadiest, scariest hostels in Rome, and I've stayed in several. I was here for over a week in April, unfortunately. Let me tell you a few things I learned: the "manager" appears to be some kind of shifty, nasty guy who abuses both the guests and his staff (who try hard, but don't have a clue). The hostel overcharges guests, lies on its website, and then the manager will scream at you if you ask for anything he doesn't think is fair. (i.e. breakfast, clean sheets, etc, all of which are advertised on their site). It's dirty, overpriced, and probably illegal. Most of the people staying there regret setting foot in the place. If you book this be prepared to be emotionally abused and to catch bed bugs, and to have your stuff stolen. Stay somewhere else!

I found this hostel to me a most disreputable and shifty place. I had booked online for the Freestyle hostel, and when I arrived at Freestyle, was told that there were 'renovations' going on, and I would have to stay at Backpackers instead, another hostel owned by the same people.

I was taken to backpackers, where I DID find the staff friendly (if unprofessional). However, I was told that there was NO hot water, and I would have to make the 3 block trek back to freestyle for a hot shower.

I then witnessed many new reservations coming in. Travellers were checking in and paying for their accommodation, and only THEN were they told about the hot water situation. It was very shifty. Even the staff complained about it, and said that the problem had been in existance for 2 months, with nothing fixed! I ended up having cold showers...i didnt want to walk late at night or early in the morning around to Freestyle...and as a female travelling by myself I didnt feel very safe in the area, either.

The beds were clean enough, and the location near the station is convenient, although the Termini area is really a grotty one, and I urge all female sole travellers to stay alert and cautious.

I found the brekkie pretty good; some nice brioches and coffee...but althether, rather shifty and disappointing.
