This summer I tried a youth hosteling holiday for the first time. I was excited but a bit apprehensive as to what I would find. I stayed at three other hostles in Bulgaria and Romania before finding the Butterfly Villa in Bucharest. The others were nice, but this one was extra-special! The owners and their staff were wonderfully helpful with everything - nothing was too big or small a problem for them to help with. Having travelled for many years themselves, they know exactly what their guests are looking for (I say 'guests' because that is how you are made to feel - very welcome.) There were comfy beds in lovely rooms, really clean bathrooms, a wonderful breakfast each morning and bright communual areas. There always seemed to be somebody on reception to answer a query, point you in the right direction and always with a smile! They were happy to help with arranging pick up/drop off to and from the hostel and suggesting places to visit and things to do in the city. The owners have worked very hard to make Butterfly Villa the ideal hostle - and they have succeeded! Well done to them and good luck for the future.

We came to Romania in a group of 4, the second time in Bucharest. Last year we have been in another hostel, this time we booked Butterfly Villa, because some swedish guys we met on the train recommended this hostel. When we arrived in Bucharest, we called the hostel and they picked us up from the train station for free !!!. The hostel itself is a nice villa with kind of a japanese garden, little bridges, lots of plants, a little river, and a cosy terace.

In this hostel you realize, that the owners backpacked for many years, the rooms are nicely furnished, airconditioned, the beds are big and VERY comfortable, after having slept in some other hostels, what a big difference. The hostel is very clean !

They have some common rooms with nice equipment, even playstation in the TV-Room, 2 teraces.

The staff is so friendly, they helped us with the city tour, gave us city-maps and bus/metro plans including tickets, they take care all the time, we felt at home instantly. Whenever we needed something, they helped immediately. They did our laundry and we found it fresh and folded on our beds, what a service!

The best is the breakfast!!! Folks, if you ever had this, its just amazing!! Having been in many other hostels, this was the best.

Its like in a hotel, they offer different types of cereals, eggs, cheese, salami, jelly, nutella, different bread types together with coffee, tea, milk and so on. And all this without any time limit. We could have breakfast, whenever we wanted. And all this for 9 Euros a night, guys, you can not get more this cheap...

Just for this we stayed longer in Bucharest, than we originally planned.

So in conclusion, we highly recommend this nice little gem. We made friends in Butterfly Villa and we definately will come back!!
