Vila Gabriela is a good introduction to Romania. The hosts, Vlad and Carmina, are very welcoming and Vlad is a real riot. They immediately sat us down in their common room for a shot of traditional plum brandy (a taste that is,um, acquired I guess). The rooms were a nice surprise with traditional Romanian decor, complete with tv. The breakfast was on the skimpy side (coffee, stale pretzels and cookies), but served eagerly. And one more word to the wise: don't let Vlad order for you at the neighboring Romanian restaurant unless you have a craving for several courses of mysterious meat.
