Enough has been said about this hostel, but ill add my 2 cents, dont go anywhere else, this is the real deal, we stayed in July 2004 while the cat there gave birth to a litter of kittens which just added to the chillness of the place, I met cool people there and the staff are amazing, we arrived late in the day and were happy to hear Rebecca say, we never turn anyone down, these were words that Id never forget about this place, because it was so hard to find, which makes the bauty of it even better, Stay here, and plan on it for a few days, Granada is amazing! Good luck with your future hostels!

i have travelled extensively around the world, and i have never found a hostal to rival the rambutan. the owners and staff are friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to ensure you have a great time in granada. the view of the alhambra is spectacular in and of itself. waking up to that fairy-tale view and watching the sun set as its rays fall directly on the rambutan are an experience you wont ever forget. they serve excellent meals that are mostly vegetarian, but the grocery store is a short walk away. the meals they serve are priced low, huge portions, and rival any gourmet restaurant. if you want to cook your own food they have several kitchens to go about your business. the beds are comfortable, and they have one room that is so comfortable and dark you could sleep your life away in it. the atmosphere the owners have created with the walls being painted by the famous street artist el nino, the extensive library of interesting books[including travel books for most of the world], piles of great music, comfortable couches surrounding a table with a map of the world on it only adds to the relaxing ambience. the biggest upside is the hill you get to walk up and the short maze you must figure out to find the place. its great if you want to experience the oldest most interesting part of granada. dont let the hill stop you or you are likely to miss out on a hot shower, delicious food, interesting company, a cozy bed, and that ever so spectacular view.

It was a candid splendor of everything you could possibly imagine after touring about europe. Staying at the Rambutan instantly took me back to south America and the laidback spots I had combed through a few months ago. These guys are into putting their interest directly into the hostel from the graffiti mural, to their music, and the food yes yes my dear go for the food. You can definately feel that this is a true place, not bedding 50 people in a room, and charging you for toilet paper. My advice, hope for the Lasagna, curry, and those waffles, if your lucky they'll take you down to their clandestine party room and hear the dope muzic. These guys have the true underground feel. azbeka yo!

There are no words to discribe the Rambutan experience..You won't get to a hostel, but in your best friend's house!I arrived in the middle of a party and left 4 days later (somb-somb..)in the middle of anotherone.10 minutes after been there i felt like home, chilling on a couch with a glass of wine in my hand, laughing like crazy, waiting for Lary's great chicken to arrive.I made friends from allover the world and woke up smilling each and every day..Nothing bad to say only a great huge THANK YOU to Yin,Damian & Taylor for creating this little heaven for travellers and to Lary & Catrina for everything..See you in March guys!!To anyone who's reading this..the Rambutan is a destination of its own..Whatever you're doing, wherever you're going, don't miss this "trip"..

Out of all the hostels i went to this summer, i had the most amazing experiences at Rambutan. The staff consisted of 4 guys who make your stay there as comfortable as possible. There's excellent food, incredible views,Mexican night!, lots of people, lots of beer, and you can always take a day trip to the lake... never thought i could meet so many rockin' people. i'll be sure to come back next time i'm in granada. thanks guys!

The staff are awesome. The friendliness in all of Europe by far. The place is clean and the food they serve is cheap and excellent. The travellers you find are like those you would come across anywhere else. Some are cool, some are not. You can hardly blame the place for that though.

My only complaints are the size of the place. It is a very popular location and fills up very quickly. So if you are bent on staying here be prepared for cramped quarters-whether in the dorms or on the terrace. it gets VERY crowded and noisy. The parties run all night, almost every night. If no sleep is your thing, then youll have no problem here. All those people and 2 bathrooms also makes for tricky moments.

I´m going to have to jump on the band wagon in disagreeing with the prissy princess who didn´t seem to have an realistic view of what backpacking is all about. The Rambutan was all i was looking for in a hostel, it was comfortable, laid back, the staff were friendly and went well out of their way to be helpful. The atmosphere was chilled and communal making it a great place for meeting people. The views were sublime. Furthermore the bathrooms (usually the let down point on many hostels were clean and free of any sort of wildlife). The only set back if you had to pick one was the walk to get to the hostel, but that´s only a problem if, like me, you are too cheap to take the bus or cab. Otherwise i´d strongly recommend this place.

Fantastic view, relaxed atmosphere, cool, international guests, fun (and good looking) staff, great space (the graff on the walls is amazing), superb food, cute kittens, just everything about it... chill. (I ran out of superlatives.) And let me just say, after three nights in one of those _._ places... I miss you guys*(&!$*(

First, I'd like to take a moment to express my deepest and most sincere feelings of gratitude towards the rambutan, as well as to those that contribute to its unique quality (both staff and guest).

For those of you that are true travelers (you know who you are), I highly recommend The Rambutan. But if you happen to be stopping by Granada "for the day", you have no business disrupting what it is that occurs at this place i like to call "a little taste of heaven". Those of you that are looking for lockouts, strict rules, and rancid food, the _ _ is around the corner.

I wont bother going into the details of travel guide criteria such as: Price, # of beds, whether or not you need membership, and all that crap that determines nothing important.

One thing:

When I hurt myself, and was forced to cut my trip short, the friends I made at the rambutan, both staff and guest, never hesitated to do all they could to help. What determines the quality of a great place are the people that keep is going.

If you have any sense at all, it wont be a question to stay there or not. But rather, why would anybody ever leave such a great place?

Wow, i honestly can't belive anyone dissed this place. it's not a hostel but a mecca. Simply the best place i stayed, expect lots of parties and to meet some amazing people. A sociable and incredible atmosphere, Hugs and tears when leaving after a week when we were only staying 2 nights. Enjoy it. Meals are awesome and the owners, Jen, Damian and Tyler will do anything they can to keep you happy. They will never send you away so that's why they are often full, it's worth the walk up the hill, the view is qorth it alone. I've been there, done that, going back and yes i do have the rambutan T-shirt.
