This hostel was great! It was so colorful and bright. It was so clean. I felt really safe. The bathrooms and showers were also very clean. I loved it! The place was nicely decorated and was modern. The people at the front desk were so nice and friendly. They answered all of our questions. If you are going to Barcelona, stay at the Itaca!

This hostel was awesome. I stayed there for 2 days March 2004. The staff was very nice and courteous. There are great maps of the Barcelona area with all the attractions at the front desk. The rooms were clean , and they provided you with clean sheets. There are also lockers in your room to put valuables in (they were not too big though). The bathrooms were bright and clean, too. I highly recommend this place. I have nothing bad to say at all.

This Hostel has it all. It is really clean, has nice and clean showers. The people at the front desk is friendly... and always willing to help. The location is the best. I made a lot of friends. What I loved the most was that there is only room for 20+ people, so you really get to know everybody. The only problem was the curfew which is 3am. So you have 2 choices: come back at 3am or 7am.

stayed here for a week and had a great time, it's really clean and the people who work there are very friendly, they helped us out a lot with where to go etc. It's got a decent kitchen and dining room so you don't have to eat out all the time. they close from 12 to 2 in the daytime for cleaning and between 3 and 7 in the morning which means you have to get back by 3 but at least you get to sleep without people coming in all night and waking you up! the hostel is nice and bright with lots of colour, i felt at home here for the week i stayed.

This was by far the best hostel we stayed in on the whole trip. Two words LAMINATE FLOORING!!

This place is clean, secure, organised and good value for money. Its a dead central position and you can get a good breakfast for 2 euros.

Beer is only a euro too!

We would deffinately come back here, although book up early coz this place is really packed - they have waiting lists for nights!

I really liked the atmosphere at this hostel (...remembering a nice chat in the welcoming lobby...) and the staff (Nuria and her sister/cousin?) were very friendly. Cheap internet access, "free" lockers (but a bit too small), nice balconies with racks to let dry your clothes, even 2 shelves of books to exchange :). Nice dining room. The kitchen schedule (2 to 10pm) is annoying when you stored your breakfast in the fridge, but the balcony did a good job the next morning. We didn't have any problems with the showers... It is well worth the 17 euros. But do visit their website before trying to find the little street by yourself :)

Cold showers, Bed bugs and Daft Curfews, May 21, 2003

A seemingly clean hostel however, avoid the double room at all costs. My friend was bitten by bed bugs all week that amazingly dissappared when we left.

Showers were often out of order or cold and we were advised to use the mens. Have to be in by 3am so avoid if you want to go out and sample Barcelona's nightlife. Only get kitchen access 2-10pm so take plenty of euros to pay for their breakfasts as you wont be able to make your own! A quiet and lifeless hostel and not particulary cheap for what you actually get.

Itaca is extremely clean. Bunk beds, but the rooms aren't too big, and they usually have balconies. Kitchen/dining room only open from 2 - 10 pm. I had trouble getting a hot shower sometimes. I didn't like that the dining room and kitchen closed, because there was really no other common area, except downstairs in the lobby, so it was a little hard to meet people besides just those in your room.

Basically, it's a nice, clean hostal with absolutely no atmosphere. If you're looking for a quiet place to sleep well, then this is your place; but if you want socializing or a even a little ambiance, I don't recommend this hostel.

We stayed at Itaca for a long weekend in Jan 03. We were in a group of 12 so we had a whole dorm to ourselves. The hostel is clean and bright, the staff are friendly and the breakfast is a bargain at 2 Euros. The location is perfect for La Rambla and most of the other tourist attractions. You can get the bus or Metro to anywhere from Placa Catalunya which is only about 5 minutes walk from the hostel, and you can walk to the beach/marina in about 20 minutes.

Minor gripes - there were complaints from the girls that the water wasn't hot enough. There is a curfew at 3am which wouldn't suit everyone, but it meant that we got enough sleep to visit all the cool places in Barcelona during the day.

These are only minor gripes and if you are visiting Barcelona my friends and myself thoroughly recommend Itaca.

Their website is useful and they respond to questions by email promptly (and in English).
