Located in the heat of La Rambla on a side street, Ideal Youth Hostel has a lot to offer. We were there for 4 nights.Walking distance from any of the Metro stations on La Rambla, it is very close to the action. There is a spacious reception area which serves great coffee. 4 or 5 floors, there was a lift - which is so important with loads of luggage!The rooms sleep 6 and there were 6 of us. They were clean, had lockers and yes the beds squeek! Mixed dorms sometimes. One bathroom per floor is not the best, but they were also clean and free. Our room was lockable and had a balcony that overlooked the street.No curfew, your room key also unlocks the side door after hours, which is fantastic. Sheets available for small fee, no breakie included, but there is so much to choose from on La Rambla anyway.Free internet, for as long as you like, but sometimes there is a que for it!The staff were helpful and friendly, very prompt with online bookings and queries. Not Ideal, but it has a lot going for it and we were happy there! I would stay there again.

I went here last year with busabout..its just off La Ramblas.. be weary of the dodgy tranvestite prostitutes at night . But all in all its ok could be much better..its cheap, handy, if you dont mind squeaking bunk beds, a prison type shower and no sheets on the bed... go to this not so ideal hostel!!

me and my five friends all stayed here, it was our fourth hostel and definately the best. free internet and glittery walls! i really reccomend it.

I stayed in Ideal Hostel in April of 2001. It opened in january of 2001, so is very new. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. Its real close to las ramblas which is a plus! I enjoyed my stay there alot and when i go back in March i plan to stay there again.

this place is relatively new. no sheets are supplied and the frames of the bunk beds make a lot of noise everytime you move on the mattress. but this is overall a good hostel. great location - steps away from las Ramblas. friendly staff and a very nice price. bonus - internet acces is free!
