Mind you things could have changed since 2003. This was a good place to stay if a little far from the action. Angie was very friendly as well. A good choice to stay here.

i had the best time staying here in august of 2003. it is everything a hostel should be. everyday i would go out and do some sightseeing and come back and as i walked in everyone sitting in the lounge room would ask where i'd been, what i'd seen that day, even if we've never met. every night i cooked my dinner in what i found to be a very complete kitchen, with full stove, then sat around, ate and drank with the other people and then went out to bars. i was travelling alone at this point so it was great to always have people around, i went out with a different group of people every night. i especially loved the greek girl working there who hung out with us and came out on her night off with us.i disagree strongly with other reviews about the cleanliness. Angie always had her mop out and i thot that was what set this hostel apart from other hostels that also have good atmospheres. water pressure was great in the shower. Angie is like a little mother, she is a tiny woman who doesn't speak english but you can figure out what she means. i found her twice as funny since i understand spanish. during the summer it is hot in Barcelona, you just aren't going to find a hostel with airconditioning. this is spain where people don't have it in their homes (i know, i lived there 6 months.) my advice is try to get a bottom bunk.this is a hostel with mixed dorms and shared bathrooms m/f, pretty typical, but maybe not for everyone.i didn't have any issues with security. true that there's no lock on the dorm door but there is always someone staying there coming in and out so it wouldn't be practical. the only people in the hostel are other backpackers so i wasn't worried. there is a safe for your passport.definately stay at Angie's, you will meet great people from all over. there's no curfew or lockout. you will have a great time in Barcelona!!

Angie's was a fine place to stay while in Barcelona for a few days. It wasn't anything special, good location, pretty close to las Ramblas and that big square. Right on the street, so it's really noisy.. and ridiculously hot in the summer. It wasn't that clean, but there weren't any bedbugs or anything. The shower wasn't really a shower.. it was like a thin piddle of lukewarm water. Angie was very nice, and we paid the price that was shown promised on the web site. Our stuff was safe, and most of the people were really friendly. Overall, a good cheap place to stay, that's got a decent atmosphere, good location, and is clean for a hostel

This place was amazing, infact it was so good that there were people that literally could not leave. I met people that planned on staying a few days but ended up staying for over a week. No doubt the best place I stayed when I traveled through Europe. It was really easy to meet people here, there is a kitchen on both floors and a really cool common area on the first floor where every night people eat dinner and drink sangria until midnight before everyone hits the town. I met so many great people here. Aside from the night life Angie is a really cool lady, she is a little fiery at times but she is really funny and overall she takes care of you. There is free unlimited access to the internet by the way. I read some of the negative reviews and have absolutely no idea what these people are talking about. There was one common factor among the negative reviews that I noticed and it was that they all stayed in the 2 bed private rooms which I checked out and will admit did not look so nice, so the lesson is stay in a dorm room. And yes it's hot at night but its Spain in the summer its going to be hot. I just had the greatest time here and I would reccomend staying here to anyone going to Barcelona.

This hostel was both good and bad.Definately a party atmosphere. Met up with heaps of other people in the saloon having been there for only 10 minutes. The location is great, right next to a metro station and 5 mins walk from pl catalyna and la rambla in the heart of Barcelona. The staff are friendly and helpful with the guy in charge of the nights providing plenty of useful tips for going out an about. The hostel however has no air conditioning so the rooms get very hot and when you have 12 beds in a very small room (3 sets of bunks huddled side by side next to each other) it leads to an unplesants nights sleep (if any). Bare in mind the weather can be upwards of 25 deg cel overnight. This would have to be the biggest downfall. Other than that shower/toilet facilities are clean but small and limited, fridges barely work (freezers don't even keep drinks cold) and there is virtually no security as the doors are always left open and there are no locks on the dorm rooms (although to be fair nothing was stolen while I was there and it didn't seem to be too risky leaving your bag behind (minus valuables).Basically, if you want partying and a good location... stay here.If you are security conscious, have trouble sleeping in the heat or need a bit more luxury when it comes to room to move and showers etc then don't stay here.

OMG! I cannot believe some people. OK I wasn't there when you were, but to complain that Angie's was dull! Hostels are what people make of them. I paid in advance, so Angie would know that I was good for my money. When you are trying to run a business on such limited financial intake, I feel that they deserve it. It's only polite. Angie was fab! Very friendly and helpful. The only reason I marked Angies down to four star was that the showers leaked on to the floor, which for the first two nights I found embarrasing. But no-one seemed to mind. Also, do not be tempted to open the internal staircase window in your room, otherwise something'll come and bite ya!!! It's so close to Placa Catalunya, it's fab.
