When we stayed the this hostel we were only going to be in Edmonton for one day and night. So we did all the classic tourist stuff, and the hostle was the perfect 'home base'. Its only about a half hour bus ride to the West Edmonton Mall, and one street away from White Ave. White Ave has loads of bars, stores, and restaraunts. The hostel itself feels very roomy. It has a large commons area, with couches, chairs, activity area, and computers with internet access. The rooms, and after hours the front door, are only acsessed by a card. The dorm rooms have 3 bunks, maybe 4 i cant recall, and a large locker for each bed. You should bring your own lock though. There are two bathrooms on each floor, one for the guys and one for the gals. Each bathroom has two stalls and three showers. Well, the guys did, i cant say for sure what the girls was like...nope i cant. Anywho, the bathrooms were kept clean and stocked, but the water had a tendency to run cold if you werent the first few to use it. But if thats the least of your problems, then i say suck it up. There was maps of the city with directions on how to get to the best spots near the main desk, which was manned 24/7 by a polite and helpful staff. I know there was a kitchen somewhere but i didnt use it or check it out...but its there, trust me. There was also a library with a fairly good selection of books, i couldnt find much that i liked, but that doesnt say much. So thats about it for my review of the HI - Edmonton Hostel, ive stayed there twice now and the next time i go to Edmonton ill Probably stay there again since i got a HI membership card. So until next time, have peace.
