In the winter of 2004, the temperature of the rockies in colorado, dropped to record levels. I travelled to Winter Park in search of a warm friendly hostel. What i found in the Rocky mountian inn, was a real shock. I was struck by the warmth and modernity. The kitchen was truly unlike anything i have seen in a youth hostel. It was honestly like a show-room. They have several microwaves, many hobs, and all the cutlery and pans you could ever need. The dorms are cheap, but immaculetly decked out with DVD players, and a few double beds for your comfort at no extra. The shower areas are communal, but private enough, and although i never got to use it, as it was so so cold, they have a roof terrace area to chill out on. Its a true gem of a hostel, and ideally situated a few minutes walk from the centre of town and a short way from the slopes of winter park.
