Located next to a busy highway in Venice Beach in a nice old building, Hostel California is a laid-back and spacious place to stay. It is rather quiet inside apart from some traffic noise. Rooms are sparse and the bathrooms are a bit untidy, but the beds are new and comfortable. Staff are friendly and easygoing. They have a large common area with a pool table, as well as an outdoor patio, where you have a good chance to meet other travelers. They offer laundry facilities and excursions as well as bicycle rental. It is a bit farther from the town centre than the others, but if you have a car it is no problem. Overall, Hostel California is a nice place for a couple of nights if nothing else is available.
