BUG Review
This is the best place to stay in Venice Beach because it is practically on Venice Beach. The entire place is extremely clean and well-maintained, though rooms are a bit modest. Windows look out onto the beach and its volleyball courts, and they offer free body boards and surfboards. There is also a cute little outdoor market next door. They have different activities each evening, such as “casino night” or pub crawls, but during the day they encourage guests to get out and explore the surroundings by offering excursions and tours. The staff are chatty and attentive, and make you feel at home. The crowd here is fun and social, with a lot of surfers and sports enthusiasts. Security is a necessity in this area, and theirs is excellent.

We stayed here August 2004 and while we were there there was some sort of construction going on downstairs. This might not seem so bad except that they carried out this work at 4 am! Its been a while since we stayed there so presumably its finished but it really ruined our stay in an otherwise good hostel.
If your not into crazy dont stay in venice, stay in Santa Monica.

I had a great time in this hostel staying 5 nites , the bar inside the hostel is a great thing as is creates an awesome party atmosphere as well as making up for lack of decent nitelife around venice beach , as bar downstairs shuts early and the bar across the street is pretty rubbish which the old butch lady calls a saloon. But by day Venice beach goes off and you are in the heart of it to see the crazy happenings ,
