I was here in June 2006. We made a reservation for a 6-bed dorm as one of my friends was not used to sleeping with strangers. After we paid up, we were showed to a 12-bed dorm, despite initially getting a confirmation that we are going to be in a 6 bed dorm. It seems to be a common problem, they will take one's money, then tell you:"oops, we dont have that." When we asked to have our deposits forfeited, and just have the money we paid 5 mins ago back, we were told it's not possible. We can come back the next day to get the money back.When we came back the next day, the manager told us that there is no refund, despite the fact that it has been promised to us by the staff. His reason:"The staff is not an American, he doesnt understand english." We were dumbfounded...We were conned of almost US$200 by the hostel, and I highly discourage any honest people from staying here.
