BUG Review
This hostel in the SOMA (South of Market) district has recently come under new management and is undergoing renovation. The bathrooms are brand new and new carpet was being laid down when we visited. The kitchen is a mess, but we were told that this will be renovated next. There is a rooftop deck in addition to the usual TV, kitchen and free wireless internet access.

Price
Dorm bed $20-35
Prices are in US dollars and are inclusive of all taxes.

Not fantastic area, and quite dirty, August 20, 2006
Reviewer: happyez from San Francisco

Pros: The stairway is interesting to walk up, the nicest part
Cons: The beds are too close together, no room for your things

Well, I cant say I would recommend this to others. I was lucky that I was staying only one night. Although the reception was nice, that is typical of big city USA - its a PR trained population. - the showers are either really hot or really cold. Not good enough - it is cleaned every day, that is obvious - but the toilets are too few for the amount of people on each floor - Internet is NOT free. It is $1 per 10 minutes. The worst I have seen worldwide (so far) - the area is full of sirens. So unless you are into wave-like notes going up and down all night, this is not the place for you.

I didnt try to cook there, I just wanted to sleep, so I cant comment on those facilities, but if I would overall, due to my experiences, give you advice, it would be - sleep here if you need to. It wont kill you, but a private room in a place that has a safer vibe, then I would recommend that - unless you are really broke, and thank the goddessh, I am not...
