The worst hostel I have ever experienced, stay well away from this one., November 4, 2009
Reviewer: HollyH

Pros: There are no pros about this hotel, the staff are horrible - they have a contempt for travellers.
Cons: The horrible staff!

The Don Santiago is the sort of hostel that thinks it can treat travellers like garbage. I arrived early in the morning because I caught a night bus to Santiago. Check in was at 11am and I had arrived a little before 7am, so I asked if I could wait downstairs until check in. This was obviously way too much hassle for the rude man who answered to the door - he woudn't even turn on the lights for me, and he just pointed to the couch next to where he was sleeping and when back to sleep! He even ignored me twice when I asked to use the bathroom! When I asked if I could use the shower, (thinking that would be better than sitting in the dark for four hours) he told me to get out! He even swore at me.

Do yourself a favour, avoid this place, there are much nicer hostels just around the corner that treat travellers much better.
