Great people who will take care of you!, September 25, 2007
Reviewer: pauljaymes from London, England

Pros: Very welcoming and comfortable. English owners who employ an army of delightful Khmer staff
Cons: It's a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre

Cambodia can be a daunting place to touch down in, so it's really nice to have a guest house that sends one of their drivers to meet you and an array of charming staff who welcome you when you arrive. You can arrange tours of the temples and other attractions with their drivers in the comfort of the bar - no need to run the gauntlet with hundreds of touts.

The place is owned by an English couple, so standards are high, but they seem to take a very responsible approach to their status, employing as many local staff as they can. The place is not right in the centre of Siem Reap but personal transport is cheap and plentiful - I only did the 15 minute walk once.

There is a bar serving a range of beers and various western and Khmer dishes, all at lovely prices. There is also a pool table and Jenga; the staff are always willing to chat or play games with everyone and it's a great setting to talk to Khmers about their lives and their country.

Rooms range from a dormitory to basic fan rooms to a/c doubles with TV. There is an in-house laundry service but in the wet season your clothes can take a few days to dry in the humidity!

All in all a great safe, comfortable and welcoming place to ease yourself into Cambodia or to relax after the psychological onslaught of Phnom Penh.
