You need a YHA membership, but can get one on premesies for an extra $30/night. Dorm rooms are huge, and can get a bit noisy but the atmosphere is wonderfully friendly. No TV and the fact that there is a night-time cerfew means people actually talk to each other. The harbour views are stunning. And if you choose to walk on the dense jungle path down to the main road - you are rewarded with a breath-taking tropical setting (20 minutes down, 30 up). They have a FREE shuttle bus from MAcau Ferry terminal to the hostel. Probabaly the best youth hostel that I have ever been to.

one thing I remember is that no one would let us call a taxi to take us in to town. We had to carry out packs down the very steep hill. When the lights went out at night and if you had a bunk by a window the night view of Hong Kong was amazing, worth paying for atleast one night for this
