the best lodge with nice outdoor sitting area by a large Balinese style fish pond, August 30, 2008
Reviewer: tim mantim from Sydney, NSW, Australia

Pros: A small Lodge but with big space and a huge garden outside.
Cons: A bit noisy if you want to sleep in as it's by the road side

I particularly like Parklane Lodge for its huge space both outside and within the Lodge. It is situated on a property of its own and has a beautiful landscaped garden with barbecue facilities at a Balinese inspired fish pond, which is unlike any other lodging houses that I have stayed in Kuching before. I was told that this is the only lodge in Sarawak that has a huge garden and outdoor seating cum entertainment area.

The Lodge is also unique in the sense that it has a full facility kitchen with microwave, oven and a refrigerator. It also has a big lounge and reading area plus a TV and DVD too. There's plenty for me to do within the Lodge; there's a computer with internet access so I can always stay connected to my country.

I also like its location which is only about 5 mins walk to the city center and along the way, there is a supermarket, hawker eateries, some nice restaurants as well as a variety of night spots.

As a keen jogger, I particularly appreciate its close proximity (less than 5 mins walk) to Kuching's most popular park within the city area, known as Reservoir Park.

As a regular guest to this Lodge, I find the staffs very helpful and would do their utmost to assist me with regards to any queries I had.

The price per bed per night is very reasonable and every morning, my breakfast consisting of coffee/tea, bread with butter/jam and some local fruits would be laid out on the dining table for me.

Overall, I am very pleased with Parklane Lodge and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's visitting Kuching. It is my choice of accomodation whenever I visit Kuching, Sarawak.
