BUG review
Albury’s YHA hostel is a good quality accommodation option although the complex also includes motel cabins and caravan sites so it doesn’t have a proper backpackers’ atmosphere. It is a clean and well-maintained place to stay with facilities that include a guest lounge with a TV and basic kitchen facilities plus a swimming pool and barbecue area. It is in Lavington in Albury’s northern suburbs.

The Hume highway is the main road transport corridor between Sydney and Melbourne, it gets heavy truck noise all night. Albury is currently getting a huge bypass built around it which will reduce this problem. The hostel is in a good location, its well run & safe but it's got no atmosphere: its 5km north of Albury itself (an interesting city). The historic Albury rail way station is Victorian era, huge & worth a look see: the colonial governments couldn't decide which guage to run so they each did their own thing & make passengers swap trains there for decades (this is fixed now). If you decide to stay here try to avoid hanging around the Motor village: go into Albury to eat: it will be more fun & there is a nice old 30's cinema with some Deco features in the main shopping street.
