BUG review
This purpose-built hostel in Thredbo Village is a top quality hostel surrounded by expensive ski lodges and is just a short walk to the centre of the village, but the closest parking is a decent walk away. Facilities include a kitchen, a cosy lounge with a fireplace and internet access ($6 per hour; Wi-Fi $7.95 per day, $19.95 for three days, $39.95 for seven days) plus a balcony with a barbecue and views of the ski fields. There's also a TV lounge, but it's only open during summer. During the ski season accommodation here is restricted to HI/YHA members and during this period the prices skyrocket.

YHA NSW operates its compact 48 bed Thredbo hostel year round: which is great if you love real (& enhanced) snow (winter hostel beds are so popular they are allocated by advance ballot) or the wonderful summer hiking: eg Kosciuszko summit with, or without, cheating via the chair lift. The hostel is half way up the slope facing the ski field: parking is strictly drop off: then park 500 m away, don't forget your National Parks pass. There are many dining options, or cook your own at the YHA. The best food shop is IGA Jindabyne next to the National Parks Info centre. Thredbo is about 1700m above sea level so you get sun fried faster, take care. The hostel stairs and access paths are steep but the comfy lounge with its great alpine view compensates. The dorms are neat but basic. There are 4 great self guided walks brochures of the village heritage and ecology. If you are fit and mobile and love the outdoors, this hostel is highly recommended.
