BUG review
This place offers inexpensive and comfortable accommodation in a good location. Dorms are clean with strings of ivy and flowers painted on the walls; but the communal showers are small, and some are a bit on the dirty side. There are two kitchens that are simple and homely with all the necessary fittings, and there is a small swimming pool and garden barbecue area. The hostel runs partly on solar power and has water and electricity saving facilities. They offer tour and activity advice and free pickup from the airport. It has a quiet atmosphere.

Very friendly staff, they helped us with booking a good diving tour (they don't push you at all!). Nice garden to sit and relax. Good facilities, clean showers and toilets.

This hostel is definitley recommended. They have very friendly staff. There is also a dinner included at the Sportsbar which is very good (unlike the Woolshed where most other hostels include dinner at!). The Hostel is not at the Esplanade but you can get there within about 10 minutes.

This hostel is excellent if you like quiet hostels (there's no TV). The rooms are so cheap- $36 for a double with a shower. The owner Barry is genuinely nice and very helpful. The facilities are good and the place is spotlessly clean. I would definitely go back again.

The staff are what really made our stay special.

Andre, Debbie and Barry know what customer service is all about.

Their good advice is not limited to matters relating to the hostel alone and in our case resulted in the saving of a heap of money on new tyres for the truck.

The bus trip to Lake Eacham and surrounds is well worth taking and the eccentric "Courtesy Bus Driver" is an absolute hoot, as is the nice bloke who owns the property where you go platypus spotting.

Facilities are clean and comfortable and the hostel is within easy staggering distance of the city's many fine pubs.

We will definitely be back!

I only stayed a night, but am gald I did. Unlike other Cairns hostels it wasn't (when I was there anywhere) full of drunk Brits, but a mix of nationalities. the staff were really friendly, and the accomodation was satisfactory (if not a little cramped!). the best thing about this hostel was that didn't pretend to be something it's not.
