BUG review
This hostel is set in a huge old motel near the centre of town. It is quite a popular place for workers, despite some maintenance issues, and there seem to be many return guests. The air-conditioned rooms have TVs and kitchenettes, and most have en suite bathrooms. There is also a large communal kitchen that could be cleaner and they have a common room with a big TV and pool table. Management are friendly and helpful with finding jobs.

We moved to Walkabout after spending 5 weeks in 'Backpackers Paradise' in May 2002, so anything would have been gratefully recieved! It's a nice place with and big, clean kitchen run by a dizzy woman and her daughter. The rooms sleep 4 and all have a bathroom, fridge and TV. We only spent a week here because finding work proved fruitless (pardon the pun). You will not find work, unless you have a car and can drive around the farms yourself. Even that requires a huge amount of luck to get anywhere (i.e. the farmer has just fired someone and you rock up at the right time). It's a nice place to chill for a few days though, to break the journey up to Cairns.
