BUG review
Gecko's Rest has a great location in the centre of town. Some parts of the hostel are well maintained, but a few dorms smell of mould and have peeling paint. They have single beds with good mattresses instead of bunks and all rooms are air-conditioned. The kitchen is large, clean and well equipped with heavy wooden tables in the middle. There is a separate TV lounge and games room, both brightly decorated and convivial. They offer laundry, internet access ($5 per hour) and good showers. They also loan guests a clean towel and cutlery on arrival. Reception are kind and there is a good atmosphere here.

Stayed for just one night in a spacy and clean double. Big kitchen, clean showers. Main drawback: this place absolutely lacks any atmosphere. It seemed to be some kind of rehab-centre for locals. The looks of the place, like the big corridors, reminded of a hospital after all.
This is a good hostel to stop of at for a rest whilst travelling up or down the coast.
The rooms are small and very clean.
There is also a large room beside reception which has about 6 internet enabled computers.
The kitchen is very big, but the tv room is small, and there is limited seating. The pool table also didnt work whilst i stayed there.
A nice place to stay though if u want to relax.
Very peaceful atmosphere, Big kitchen, big rooms, nice beds 15 February 2006
Pros:
I loved the beds. They were real matresses with comforters
Cons:
If you like a quiet relaxing place this is great for you.

This was a nice town to stop at on the way up the east coast. Not many places to stay, but Gecko's Rest proved to be a good one. With your own single matress w/comforter and big rooms this was a good place to catch up on some well needed sleep. The kitchen was HUGE and had a great assortment of utensils. There was not alot to do in terms of entertainment (just a small room with a TV & Pool table) but for the price was a great place to stay for a few days.
