BUG review
This hostel gets it just right. Not too wild, but not boring either. It isn't the cleanest, though. Dorms are spacious and well maintained, but the bathrooms could do with a renovation. The common room is breezy and attractive, with open beam ceilings, a big TV, pool table and a good internet café. There is also a swimming pool and hammocks strung between palm trees. Surfboards are free to use, and tours run daily. Reception staff are friendly.

Rainbow Beach is so small that it's hardly worth listing as a Pro that the hostel is just over the road from the Greyhound stop. I don't like en suite bathrooms due to the noise that people make if they use them during the night, plus the inconvenience factor if everyone gets up at the same time in the morning. I'm not sure if the place has a lot of workers, but my dorm was really messy (so messy that I couldn't tell which was supposed to be the empty bunk when I first moved in), and a number of the dorms are very close to the bar. Having said that, I enjoyed my stay and would happily return again.

This is a newly-aquired YHA and a very good one. Everything is pretty new on the communal side and the rooms aren't too bad. The McCafferties bus drops you off right in front and its about a 5-min walk to the beach. It was pretty quiet when I was there and a nice change of pace.

I have been travelling around Australia for the past 8 months, and without a doubt this hostel is the classiest, cleanest, and most relaxed atmosphere I have ever been to yet. The staff is great, and the prices really good too. I checked all the other hostels in Rainbow before I came here also, and there is definately no competition.
