BUG review
This remote hostel is a great place to stay if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat. Located out in the bush, Flinders Chase Farm offers spotless accommodation in well-kept dorms and all the usual facilities are in place. Although the rural location gives the house some character the atmosphere is really a hit or miss, as it can be perhaps a bit too quiet as there’s often lots of space but not many other guests.

My wife and I booked a double ensuite for two nights mid November. Unfortunately during our stay we had to face a series of inconveniences strictly related to the way this hostel is built and managed. Soon after arrival we discovered that the water is constantly brown in color; there was no hot water at all and we had to ask the owner to switch it on. The evening was cold but the heater in the room automatically goes off after a while and this cost us a freezing night. And during all night there was no water at all. While the ensuite toilet was neat and cosy, it was not heated with the rest of the room. We also gave up cooking dinner and breakfast as the kitchen looked primitive and messy and it was exposed to the external temperature due to the lack of walls. As Kangaroo Island is subject to the oceanic weather all year I am afraid that most of the time the temperature in this hostel might be quite low. We decided to leave after only one night. And please note that the price for this room is 80$ and the lady owner might be a bit too rude sometimes...
