BUG review
This long running hostel is in an old building on Formby Road around 1km from the centre of town. It has a fully-equipped kitchen, laundry, TV lounge and a small courtyard but the standard of accommodation is nothing special.
About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.
We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

I stayed here for 1 night in november 2003. It is a quiet, fairly small hostel, but with all the standard amenities. The bathrooms and rooms are average, but fine, and there is a pretty good kitchen which is adequate for the amount of guests staying there. The location is close to the water, and within walking distance of the ferry.

It's worth a short walk to get there. This is a small friendly hostel with a very helpfull staff. The rooms are big and clean. I am sure you will feel at home right away in this hostel. At least I did. One day the owners cooked a meal for all the guests. If you want to get away from the usual backpacker crowd and if you want to meet some interesting people go to this hostel.
