BUG review
This YHA is in an old but well kept building built around a grassy courtyard. Amenities include a TV lounge with a pool table, table tennis and internet access plus kitchen and laundry facilities. It has an institutional feel to it and there isn't much of an atmosphere. It is located in suburban New Town, which is too far from the city centre for most travellers but it has ample parking so people travelling by car may want to consider staying here.
About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.
We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

This hostel is in quite a pretty location with a grassy courtyard in the middle. It's very far from the main part of Hobart though, it takes about 30 mins to walk there.
The rooms are pretty basic but clean. The showers were ok, although they did flood. Flip flops are always a must!
Aagin, the kitchen is pretty basic but it was big enough, was clean and had everything you needed.
The common area was quite big and had a TV. It was a very quiet hostel, and there wasn't very many people about. All in all, pretty basic but clean and I would stay there again.
Pros:
it's fairly small and has got a garden area
Cons:
the bathrooms!

This place feels a bit like a 1960s holiday camp, all the rooms feel really dated. the bathrooms flood so there is a sign which asks you to mop up after your shower- it's horrid walking through a great big puddle to the shower. The kitchen is fairly ok, there are enough pots and pans and it's fairly clean. The location is good for north hobart but is quite a long walk from the city centre.

Very clean and well maintained, suspect it used to be a motel. large lounge and TV room with loads of information. Kitchen is rather small for the number of beds, but you can buy an all you can eat breakfast in a seperate rooms which helps. It is a long way out of town but loads of cheap busses ran into town only about 200m away from the hostel, even at weekends, so it wasn't a problem. They had a full timetable of all the busses in the lounge.I liked the security and the helpfull staff.

The hostel is clean with a nice social courtyard area. It is located only a few blocks from great cafes and shops. However, it is a bit of a walk to the downtown area. It is pretty laid back and quiet, at least during the week.
