BUG review
Considering that this is in a part of Australia seldom visited by most backpackers, Maffra's Cambrai Backpackers is a surprisingly good hostel. It is a charming old building with tall ceilings right in the centre of town. It has a great atmosphere and features a brilliant bar with a TV and cosy fireplace plus a kitchen and another TV lounge.

About BUG's hostel reviews

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

I was told of this hostel in Belgooly, Ireland. Ron, Marg & Tom are great hosts. There is bushwalking with much Oz wildlife. Ron & Pete took us fishing on the 90 mile beach and court a shark. This hostel is a life time experience, close to the best. We worked on the veggie farms, enjoying a beer afterwards

This place is one out of the box! If you're into quirky little country towns you'll love this place! It's kind of like Northern Exposure, minus the snow!! Ron and Marg are wonderful hosts and were happy to show me around their gorgeous part of the world. I will be back, infact I may settle down in Maffra, perhaps raise a family...

I have travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia and have found my favourite hostel-welcoming, comfortable and relaxing in a rare and beautiful part of the world. Cambrai Backpackers is number 1!!
