BUG review
Way back in the mid-nineties, Kimberley Klub was one of the first purpose-built "flashpackers" hostels. Twelve years on it is starting to show its age but it has also developed into a more established hostel with a great atmosphere that it lacked in its early years. It is comprised of three main buildings; two accommodation blocks separated by a suspended African-style thatch gazebo plus the main reception/common area with internet access, including Wi-Fi ($6 1 hour, $10 2 hours); a kitchen (no oven); a TV lounge and games room with a pool table, table tennis and pool table plus an excellent bar with a huge projection screen TV. There's also a beach volleyball court and an excellent swimming pool. Although relatively compact, there is still room for lush tropical gardens. The rooms are air-conditioned but you have to pay $1 for three hours of air-con so you inevitably wake up in a sweat at 3am when the air-conditioning cuts out. Although not right in the centre of things, Kimberley Klub is still fairly central at about a five-minute walk from the airport terminal, the Broome Boulevard shopping centre and the town centre.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

In many ways this is the best backpackers in Broome – but be warned that there is one massive downside. It’s clean, tidy, with a lovely pool and bar. However because of the bar there is a draconian no-alcohol rule throughout the hostel – you WILL be searched if you enter after 11pm to see if you are sneeking any in. The night watchman who guards the place after 11 is a particularly cranky odd character, who answers the door with a large hammer in his hand for “protection”. My first night I wasn’t aware of how strict the rule was and took some alcohol from the on-site bar back to my room just as it was closing – and had a ten minute rant from this fellow. Very welcoming.Because the place is so popular it also books up a long way in advance – and the staff really don’t seem to care: they range from unhelpful to just going through the motions. There is also an 11pm lockdown of all facilites: you can’t even find somewhere outside to sit and read.It does however attract a lot of genuine travellers – you will almost certainly enjoy your stay.

We thought it was a great place to stay. But they charged you a non refundable deposit to use the crockery and cutlery. They charged you a deposit for the card to use the internet, once they are all on loan there are no more available. They charged you for a room with air con and then you had to pay for the air con to work. If you switched off the air con, as they ask you to do, during the day the time expires on it anyway!!

Stayed in the KK in 2004, the large open areas are a great for meeting people, the bar helps too!Pool is great, and the staff friendly and very helpful on the tour desk. However, the room I stayed in was horrible-it was a downstairs one near volleyball court-v small, dark and smelt stale. A friend stayed in the upper level room, which was better, couldn't move into a different room as they were always fully booked.Great location for the town centre(all two roads of it! you have to love Broome).

Kimberley Klub Rocks!!!!!! This is an awesome Hostel which is by far the cleanest in Broome (trust me i know) with the best facilities and staff!! We ended up staying here for 3 weeks and really became apart of the KK Family! the guys behind reception and the bar really make you feel at home and go out of their way to find out your name which is more than i can say about the other smaller hostels in Broome! They are located close to town and have free buses to the beach everyday! Love this place, will be coming back for sure!!!

I was very impressed with the KK, staff were really helpful, the place was clean, and the pool is a real highlight. Initially in Broome I stayed at Cable Beach but it was too far out of the way and the kitchen was too hot. The Kimberlety klub is possibly the best Hostel I hhave had the pleasure of visisting. i very mush recommend it.

The rooms sleep 10 but are very spacious, the bathrooms are clean but the kitchen is not of a good standard. The common areas are ok but the constant rock music can start to grate. The crowd were very friendly, I enjoyed my stay but 2 nights was enough.

this place cost $24 a night with vip discount!!! very expensive but it has excellent facilities and is spotless. a downside would be the fact that you cant drink your own alcohol in the place and are obliged to drink at the expensive bar if you want to drink. staff are very helpful. feels more like a resort than a hostel
