BUG review
This is a nice classy hostel right in the centre of Dunsborough. It is a clean and well maintained hostel with facilities that include laundry, internet access (including Wi-Fi), a fully-equipped kitchen and a sunny balcony with good furnishing and a barbecue. The dormitories are spotless and the bunk-beds have good inner-spring mattresses. Bikes are available for rent and there’s a café and restaurant downstairs.

Don't stay here. This is one of the worst hostels I've stayed at.

The mattresses are completely worn out. There's no padding over the springs which leads to a very uncomfortable night. Plus the room I was in had bed bugs. Left with bites across my back.

If that wasn't bad enough, the place is filthy. The bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned properly for months and the kitchen was disgusting.

Finally, the place was incredibly noisy with people shouting, banging doors and running around until 3am.

Their website makes it look great, but the reality is very different.

DO NOT STAY AT DUNSBOROUGH BEACH LODGE. stayed at this hostel a few times last year. Unfortunately Ian the previous owner sold the place in february 2008, the new owners have no idea how to cater for backpackers at all, the place is being used as accomodation for farm workers and is no longer a hostel, just a messy, noisy building where the owners told us to keep the noise down and wanted us to stop drinking at 9.30pm. The farm workers get up at 5am and it's impossible to sleep in. STAY ELSEWHERE IN DUNSBOROUGH OR KEEP GOING TO MARGARET RIVER, JUST DONT STAY HERE.

Me and my friends traveled 2800km through the south-west of Australia and we visited heaps of backpackers during this trip. The DBL definetly was the best place to stay. Everything was perfect, rooms, showers, kitchen, pool (billard) for free, broadband etc. And everything was very clean. Ian (the owner) took us to 2 different spots for watching whales and dolphins with his 4W-Drive for little money. You´ll enjoy your stay. Cheers Roman (study-abroad Student from Germany)

This would have to be the nicest place we have stayed at during our trip in oz by far.Everything is new and clean and its right next to the beach and town too.The owner drove us around to see all the beaches and to watch dolphins. We recommend this place to everyone heading south from perth.
