BUG review
This hostel is your best option in Esperance. It’s very clean and well maintained and the dormitories have single beds in them, there are no bunks. Facilities include a poorly equipped kitchen, pool table, table tennis, a TV room, laundry and a fairly big book-swap. Guests have free use of bicycles. The dorms are usually gender-segregated and a fairly strict “be quiet at night” policy detracts from the atmosphere, although the hostel feels friendly.

About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

The friendly and helpful hosts make this smallish guest house a lovely place to stay.

They run it well run and keep it clean and have an attention to detail which makes for a comfortable stay. For a small place this hostel has an abundance of facilities. Among them is a well equipped kitchen (with a radio and complementary tea), a dining room, games room, sitting room as well as a cosy lounge with a wood fire and tv. The rooms are homey (with carefully chosen decor), the beds comfortable and the breakfast is a highlight.

The hosts provide the all important map as well as helpful advice about restaurants, car hire, tours, national parks, beaches and sealion spotting. They can book tours from the hostel and do pick ups/ drop offs at the trans wa bus stop and the air port. There is a host of travel brochures in the sitting room and some note books with advice from previous visitors. The supermarket is not too far away and the guest house is a short walk from the sea.

Most importantly, in all my travels of this water poor continent this guest house is the only one I’ve found with water conserving shower heads!!

(May many more follow their lead!)

the atmosphere is fantastic, the owners-Mark and Helen are the lovliest, coolest people and make the hostel what it is. They create a relaxed atmosphere and do a great job of welcoming everyone and get everyone involved. Esperence is the sort of place you never want to leave-its paradise, and this hostel is part of that paradise. Beryls burger van is a must see next to the jetty which has the best view of the sunrise. Marks tours are the best way to experience the best bits of esperence-sandboarding and Abalone diving-and climbing Frenchmans Peak!!!
