BUG review
This flashpackers hostel is very clean and close to the beach, although it is around 10km from Margaret River town. It is a very clean and well maintained hostel in a stylish modern resort-style building with superior facilities that include a very nice fully-equipped kitchen and a common area with comfortable couches, an excellent TV and a pool table. There’s also a swimming pool. Although the social atmosphere isn’t too bad, this hostel can feel a bit impersonal and the modern building would hardly be called cosy, even if it is a comfortable place to relax.

i stayed here in dec 2003 and the place was so clean!!! Even better it was cleaned by backpackers who where staying in exchange for cheap accomodation (dunno if thats still the deal). only down side was they wanted a $100 bond because it was schoolies week but she didnt even inspect our room when we left, just handed our bond back!

It had great facilities, was clean and now it has a pool! i want to go back. Am sending my cousin there cause he loves to surf!

This hostel is lovely. So are the staff, Diane, Murray and Gary. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The kitchen is really well equipped and spotlessly clean and the dining area has a lovely community feel to it. TV room is lovely and some of the rooms even have their own TV and you can hire a DVD player and DVDs too. Great location for the beach, not so good for the town, but there's usually someone who can give you a lift and all the trips will pick you up from the accommodation. Lovely comfy beds and lovely shower blocks too. Anyone would have a great time here.

there are few places in the world that can match this awesome location within sight of some of australia's most challenging surf breaks and most incredible coastline. this modern hostel has all the facilities, security and friendly atmosphere you'll need to make your stay longer than you may have expected. thanks to josette and her team of helpers the place is very well looked after and has won awards for best hostel in WA. many thanks for a great time and hope to see you again as soon as....

Well, I came to see a friend very briefly and stayed for over two months. I left having met heaps of good people and beeing friends with josette the lovely manager.

Any more questions?

Thanks for all the good times!

Jules ...

I'm surprised to see bad reviews on the surf point resort.

Maybe it was just bad luck.

I stayed there several times, about 5 weeks all together. It's true that it is a bit far from the city center, but you're right on the beaches. It is modern, clean and tidy, the kitchen is smashing. I've seen two managements through my stays there, both of them very friendly and easy going. I'll stop there again one day for sure.

Probably the best hostel I ever stayed in.

What a cry baby our anon friend from norway is. This lodge is great; very clean with good facilities. One of the good things about this lodge is that it is away from the tourist trap that is marg. river. The distance out of town also keeps the garbage away - they stay in town !

We had booked a room at surfpoint lodge. But they didn't take our reservation. I told them that I would like to make a reservation for two people in a double room for couple of nights, but they didn't understand that line. I have written the same line in e-mail to at least 20 hostels throughout Asia and Australia, and even in countries where they speak little of english, they understood, and no mix up happened. We did get our rooms everywhere else. When they didn't take my reservation, they blamed it mostly on me, and was not willing to help. They would barely lend us their phone. We did get another place to stay, and we were glad, it all turned out for the best, because near surfpoint lodge, there are no shops or restaurants. There are no buses or public transportion, and the place is 10 km out of town. It is in middle of nothing. It is quite expensive too, at the other place it was a bit cheaper, and breakfast was included. They had pick up too, something that surfpoint lodge didn't have. The reseption is closed for almost 4 hours during the day,and that is quite inconvenient.
