BUG review
Right down the street from the information centre, Planet Nomad is a no-frills, urban-feel hostel. It’s short on facilities compared with many of its Rotorua neighbours; with a simple kitchen, a TV lounge with mismatched furnishings, and a small smokers’ courtyard with barbecue. A few coin-operated internet PCs round out the offerings. It doesn’t look like it’s been renovated in a while, but colourfully-painted walls and doors give a bit of cheer to the place.

About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.

Not very impressive. Smallest 6 bed dorm i've ever stayed in, and hard to get sleep at the weekend because of really loud music from a local pub. The front door was always open while i was there so anyone could walk in and go through the (tiny!!!) kitchen and tv room. I did like the couch next to the washing machine and dryer though. Switched to a single room for $35 which was way better. On the plus side it was kept very clean.
