BUG review
Blarneys Rock is a small, 40-bed hostel in the city centre next door to a large Irish pub. There are several internet PCs and a small reception area on the ground floor; the accommodation and facilities – a cosy TV lounge, a small kitchen and dining area – are upstairs. Rooms are named for Irish towns, and there’s a leprechaun-and-shamrocks theme to the painted walls. Blarneys Rock doesn’t compete in terms of facilities with most of the Rotorua hostels, though it does have a friendly, personal touch to it that some might enjoy.

About BUG's hostel reviews
This hostel was visited by one of BUG's team of hostel inspectors who write independent reviews and assess a star rating based on an objective assessment criteria.

We show up unannounced at hostels to write honest and unbiased hostel reviews. Many of BUG's reviews now feature videos and photo slideshows. BUG never receives payment for listing any establishment and BUG's researchers never accept free accommodation in exchange for favourable reviews.
