BUG review
In the Zone is a very clean, recently renovated hostel right around the corner from Tutanekai Street, Rotorua’s main dining area. The dorm rooms (all four-bed) are comfortable and roomy, with nice innerspring mattresses. There’s a small common room with a TV and leather couches and bean bags, and a smaller kitchen/dining area. A little outdoor patio has a barbecue. There is also a pair of individual mineral pools. Bathrooms are particularly sleek and well-appointed, with the nice touch of automatic lights – on when you walk in. The main thing missing is a sense of atmosphere; small common areas would seem to limit social interaction, and there’s not a particularly friendly vibe to the place.
