BUG review
Loft 109 is a small, cool hostel on a commercial street a couple of minutes from The Strand, with shopping and a cinema right nearby. It’s up a flight of stairs from the street and has a small balcony overlooking the action below, as well as a little kitchen and TV/common room. A couple of deck areas feature a barbecue. The décor has some style, with exposed brick and nautical flourishes. There’s also a log fire, and an all girls’ dorm on another floor. Like most hostels in Tauranga, seasonal work can also be arranged here.

I arrived during fruit picking season and the hostel was so crowded there were people sleeping in the hallways. My single room was very nice and had a balcony. The bathrooms were co-ed and were usually not that clean. Also, the kitchen was overflowing with food on the counters and in the fridge. I found a cockroach in my groceries after I left. Regular maintenance definitely needed in the kitchen areas.
